Guild Wars 2

This is annoying, a huge update in the evening right after I get off work you had one thing to do and you all day to do it. Presently everyone and their brother’s, cousin’s grandma is trying to download this all at once. From the looks of it it’s a fairly big file.

Why? Why?? Why??? can’t you launch this earlier in the day? Actually it should be days ahead of the huge event you’re about to host. Then at the pointed hour kick everyone off and have them download a tiny file that completes the update.

Then I won’t have to sit here and look at this.

I imagine they wouldn’t release it too early so people wouldn’t be able to data mine stuff before anything is revealed. Also, keep in mind that this is a worldwide game, some of the times they do things may seem a little inconvenient for you but are probably far more inconvenient for others elsewhere, there is of course the flipside to that but the point is they aren’t catering for just a single timezone here.

I understand that this is a world wide game, and that my day by comparison is meaningless. If I was in a different time zone and they ran the update at 3AM local time I’d be snoozing without a care.

But keep in mind that Anet is based in North America they are headquartered in Washington State they are actually catering to the West Coast time zone as they probably should since that’s where they are based.

I hadn’t accounted for data mining but there has got to be a better way, some kind of file encryption they can can run.

Perhaps some kind of staggering update system so everyone that was online isn’t updating all at once

its a small gripe for me to but it is still a gripe i blame hackers not anet. otherwise theyd probably have everything patched and dled 10 minutes every day for a month for the whole year.

Poe Lyfe, pls be objective.

With game design, they don’t immediately patch everything up. This isn’t 1+1=2, it’s more abstract than that.

What they do is have the initial lay-out correct, then they work on shifting things around in order to see the most major problems, then once they identify those problems they go about with smaller tweaks. The idea is they have to shift things around first, to know exactly what they’re dealing with. If they just make small balance changes, then they’re just giving you false confidence, and they’d be shying away from the problem.They cannot simply go about getting something right the first time. Nothing starts out perfect come on guys. It requires major shifts across all platforms.

Saying it’s not possible at this point to fix things, is ludicrous. It’s always been this way.

It’s called trial and error, relax.
