A new purpose for towns
I’m all for towns being end-game areas, since like 99.9% of our time playing the game is considered “end game” content. This is one interesting way of doing that. Someone else mentioned player housing, which is a cool thought, but I’m guessing servers are way too packed to allow players to have physical house locations.
Basically anything that makes towns come alive sounds cool to me. So +1.
This
Its a shame that people dont have any reasons to stay in othe big cities right now
Most of the cities are just so beautifully done in gw 2 that its just a waste to make them a pre 80 portal….
Dynamic events in cities, from small events like cleaning DR to big events like random dragon invasions to any cities would make people care about them more
Imagine dragons attacking the reach from sky …
Hopefully they will add more mini games to towns. Player housing would also be awesome!
I would love to see each city have a mini-dungeon, Age of Conan had repeatable solo dungeons in the noble district which was fun. Something similar to that, like a dungeon x jumping puzzle x veteran mobs x traps, located in each capital city with it’s cultural theme that can scale from 1-10 players like a dynamic event would.
Add player housing to the main cities and you will see a very high increase in traffic. Add shops that sell (themed) furniture items to the main cities (and LA) and you will see even more traffic.
Then you can have a real home in your ‘Home Instance’ with lots of interior decoration options (including HoM style displays for minis etc) and invite friends over to show off your cool home.
Fojja – Vyxxi – Nymmra – Mymmra – Champion of Dwayna .. and more
Highly Over Powered Explorers [HOPE] – Desolation EU
I every mmo I’ve played, always the “city with the portals” gets all the players…
If ANet would want to make other cities more attractive then my suggestion would be: spread the portals, just give each 2, connecting them only with other 2 cities.
i’d love it if the cities were all full of interesting non-combat events and secret areas to find. lion’s arch has 3 jumping puzzles and a ton of unused area, but the other 5 cities have almost nothing to them.

Perhaps each city shall have a lvl 80 dungeon, an instanced dungeon that uses the entire map of that city.
This can be designed as
(1) Military Maneuvers: Each city wants to prove their defense construction and man power against invasion. 5 players can form a team to help them test their strength. Perhaps there can be a couple of “story modes” too.
(2) an Inter-tribal Tournaments: Each cities wants to boast their glory. The one who wins over the 5 cities will be given a heroic title.
(3) Back to the History of that city: The players participates in the war that took place in the past so that the cities survived and remained intact till now.
Rewards can be exotic tribal gears. Bound on Acquire.

player housing could be added by having highly customizable home instances, and upon trying to go through the home instance gates, you’d be allowed to choose entering your own instance or browse other players’ instances. the top rated ones get priority on the browsing.
that’s just something i came up with now, there could be a lot more.

I think people will complain if there is no one single city that has all the portals. However, other cities shall form a portal network too without the need to go via the hub in Lion Arch.

Yes, probably periodical “Discounts” and “Promotions” etc.
- Less fees/taxes or discounts in Trading post.
- Less fees for outward WP than other maps
- half repair cost, once per day (for those completed 100% city map)
- Crafting exp bonus, Special discounts for crafting materials
- Queuing priority for city portals. (Not attractive now)
- Free (Discounted) temporary tribal / cultural customs to go with their tribal events

These are some pretty awesome suggestions.
- Instanced player housing with discounts and benefits in that particular town.
- Mini-games in each town.
- More jumping puzzles and general non-combat events
- Instanced dungeon in each town
I would also like to say, that perhaps the PVP menu should become a hybrid menu and include warp options to each major town straight from there. While Mists -> LA -> Towns is pretty fast, it is part of the reason everyone just stays in LA. Like also mentioned, if each town got a set of portals to each other town, it would increase their worth as well.
Also, perhaps some events that are ‘what could have been’ if say zhaitan took over, and you could have an instance of the towns, with more dark and dreary atmosphere and some cool dragon fight. Some kind of hybrid instance/event.

Definitely agree with this !
There’s plenty killing, but not plenty playful activities ^^.
These kind of things really keep people playing.
Yeah in truth I would prefer more non-fighting things to do, if we had to pick one. There are a lot of unique areas in each town, that are used for different story missions, but could certainly find new purpose in mini-games or other similar events. Like the circus area in Divinity Reach for example, could have some simple carnival games of sorts.
