Howdy everyone. Couldn’t really find a (better) place for this, but here it goes anyways.

So I like to read the forums a lot, especially the suggestions forum. People have some genuine, good ideas here that strike up a good conversation.

And then someone comes and just throws a message like: “/signed”
I get why there are people who feel they need to show support for the ideas. I like to show support for ideas I like too!
However, if you don’t think the idea is worth more than 7-50 keystrokes from you, do you honestly think typing “/signed” really amounts to anything?
What it does, however, is adding length to the actual thread, making it slightly harder to find the actual ideas and discussion. (I admit it doesn’t make it all that hard, I mean, its just few extra lines of text, but I guess you get what I’m getting at. Right? Maybe when you get 3 pages of /signed between each useful comment tho?)

However, I would greatly appreciate it if people actually started to post their comments and thoughts instead of /signed. At least for me, every post starting with /signed actually means “I actually got nothing to say, but I’m posting anyways.”
But that might just be my personal opinion.

People who can argue often offer a good and meaningful conversation about the subject.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

It bumps the post to the first page and increases visibility. Some ideas are so simple that you can’t really improve on them, so all you can do is voice your agreement. Example: Karma should be account-bound.

In a related subject, what the kittens does the +1 button do, anyway?

oh how I wanted to just put a /signed, but I have to comment to make the point….so here goes rarely do i do that but if I do it means that I have nothing to add. I like the op and all other comments and agree there is nothing to discuss if its already laid out for you so I can just nod to that fact by doing what you hate.

Some people don’t discuss anyway some just rehash whats already been said, as if they are analyzing the data. I had on another topic someone quoted me and only just reworded the way I stated it , as if he was saying I was wrong but in the end he said the same kitten thing.

@SevenSigma
Well, having so well rounded suggestion that nobody has nothing to add is pretty rare. But even in such cases you can use structures like “I especially like…” and “I found that … was simply marvelous idea, because…” and so on. I mean, you don’t need to add to the suggestion, you can just write what made it especially good one to: 1) Show that you actually care and 2) So that if by any change devs happen to read every post in the thread and can’t make all of the changes suggested, they get the idea of which was the #1 on the players wishlist. And why. Knowing why could help solve problems in more convenient ways that are not visible for players due to the way devs coded the game. 3) Forum shouldn’t be a bumpfest. Sometimes, during primetime mostly, there might be so many new threads along with the bumped ones that some of the new ones end up in 2nd page before anyone even takes a look at them. No matter how good ideas they had. (They might just have a bad title or people posting didn’t have interest in the particular area at the time.)
Well, these are just my opinions.

Oh, and I don’t really know what the +1 button does either. I guess its supposed to be sort of “like”?

@ Gummy

I liked your post. To be honest, I was kind of waiting for someone to make such a post. And well, I know some people (especially if they are not native speakers) can quote you in a way that makes it seem like they’re arguing with you but are in fact agreeing with you. Has happened to me a few times too, both as a quoter and the one quoted.

I would be happier if people knew how to use the Search field.

This message was brought to you by a Kitten who can see the Search Button

Hmm… I’d also like it if people stopped posting off topic. But yeah, more people using search would be better.
