ABC music integration possible ?
I know about this, But the point I was trying to make was that you should be able to play music in-game that others can hear.

I really do not want the ability to download an ABC music file to play in game for things such as the choir bell. I really want to save up my gold to buy an unbreakeable choir bell because I am a musician in real life and want to be able to show that. If this ABC file is allowd then playing a tune for people in-game would not be as meaningful and I would lose motivation entirely to get an instrument in-game. People would not be playing recognizable tunes out of skill anymore.
On the other hand, I would not mind if some instruments have ABC files available as long as some do not. I think people who really play music should be able to show off their talents. When I see someone on the streets of Divinity’s Reach playing Zelda I want to look in admiration to that player and be able to ask, “What instrument do you play in real life?” or something of the sort. I do not want to just walk past him thinking, “There is just another person having downloaded their music by ABC file, so what”.
I wholeheartedly support this idea, I have written and played music in LOTRO for hours.
I’d even pay gems for that feature.
Thats not exactly what he meant, the LOTRO client could read external files in the .abc format and with the command “/play song.abc” your character would start to play your prepared song automatically.
With enough players you could do stuff like this
I think everyone knows what you mean. They also know how ridiculously annoying it will make every social location in the game. You would have to disable sound to do anything in Lion’s Arch.
I also think that musician had a point. It will trivialize music kind of the way Guitar Hero does to a real guitarist.

Just like other games have done which allow player music, you add an option to disable player generated music. Simple.

Thats such a rediculous statement where to even begin. Music is trivial. Its not a necessity of life, or life altering. It’s just noise people enjoy.
I have to agree that while the pre-written files for playing music in LotRO was pretty neat technically, and allowed accurate reproductions, I can’t say that I’d want to see it in GW2.
That said, I’d love to see more playable musical instruments like the bell.
(Please without attack sounds; though drawing a bell and yelling “Victory or death!” is worth a few chuckles.)
Incoming Gangnam Style in every single part of LA if this is ever implemented.

Yes! I too would love to see more instruments in the game & wouldn’t mind paying gems for such a novelty. Instruments like the choir bell and pipe organ give casuals something fun to goof around with, & the hardcore crowd something to master. I do have to agree with Catisa though in that there should be an option to disable it on your end.

that song drive me mad anyway… if its in game ide have to play with no sound…:(
Add more player instruments and then give us an option to mute player music.
Everyone’s happy.
An ABC file can be sent in just a few chat lines so others could hear them.
But I’d have instruments in the gem store and a volume slider for player instruments rather than that, so people who want to play music actually have to play it.
