I am completely sick and tired of temporary content that changes the world for two weeks after which it returns to normal. This is not a “Living World”.
Instead, leave the core game alone. Stop adding useless garbage to the gem store, and quit filling the world with meaningless clutter. The core game does not need to be tainted like this.
Instead, do what worked in GW1. Have annual events (Wintersday, Dragon Festival, April Fool’s Day, Wintersday in July, etc, etc) as the only time the world makes a temporary change. Then, work on EXPANSIONS. This means to allow us entry into the Crystal Desert, the Ring of Fire, the eastern portion of the Southern Shiverpeaks (Marhan’s Grotto, Mineral Springs), the Charr Homelands, etc.
This game needs more places to go, not more clutter and nonsense in the places we already can explore. Content is being created so quickly that it isn’t even being tested adequately.
Living World is destroying the immersion factor that this game once had. The concept doesn’t work in the way you are executing it. Get rid of it and move back to what worked during GW1.
Aww, I was going to make a flippant remark about removing the things I don’t like from the game, but you went in a completely different direction of just not understanding anything about the Living World design. Go read some Dev diary stuff and actually become aware of how things should be progressing this year. Nothing that happened this last year matters. This was their beta test for how the Living World CAN operate. From here there should be more growth in the world and actual permanent content. They’re not doing expansions because they can provide more content faster through this method than they can do with Expansions. City of Heroes employed a similar method on a multi month schedule and it worked extremely well. GW2 will be doing it every two weeks to a month.
Yeah, I’m sorry to hear you don’t like it so far, but expansions probably aren’t happening anytime soon. I too would love to push into those areas and there’s no reason we can’t do that as part of the Living Story.
Anet already said in January that this year, they will be working on the core of the game. Finish the annual re-occuring events like Dragon Bash, Queen’s Jubilee, Wintersday etc, and also work on all the stuff they weren’t satisfied with. Rewards, bosses, dungeons and etc.
That means they wont be adding a lot of new stuff, until the core of the game shining like a gold coin. You might think that’s useless for us who’s already played through it, but there’s tons of people who haven’t. Who? China. GW2 hasn’t released there yet and it’s the 3rd most anticipated game there.
Living Story will most likely add plenty of new zones and explore plenty of new things once the current stuff is up in shape. It’ll take time but as long as it’s F2P it doesn’t need to rush. I got plenty of games to play during breaks.
to me the LW bores me and only adds zerg fests, there is absolutely nothing living in the events the add.
the worst part IMO is that it only asks allot of time and effort just for a pathetic minipet, they even force ppl to do things they really don’t enjoy.
i would like to see the world grow bigger, add areas that are normally accessible from point one in GW1, add stuff we could access in EotN and make the world more immerse then the dead weight we currently have.
