Around the forums you will notice a lot of the time people are complaining about map completion and staleness of matchups when it comes to W3. I can see where they are coming from with the staleness as this is the third week in a row Blackgate has spawned Green; Sanctum of Rall spawned Blue and Isle of Janthir spawned Red.
Going the way things are going it seems as if it will stay this way next week even. A lot of matchups are facing this same dilemma and I won’t even get started on what Fergusen’s Crossing/Devona’s Rest/Kaineng are experiencing being on week; 7 is it?, of the same matchup.
While the matchups are generally pretty well balanced and the matchups are growing stale. I enjoy a good fight and all but fighting the same teams in the EXACT SAME MANNER is incredibly boring after 2 or 3 weeks; not to mention if the matchups are balanced it is INCREDIBLY difficult to get 100% map completion… which is what I’m stuck on; 99%, because of Veloka’s Slope being almost impossible to capture on Green Side.
If A.net did a simple switch and rotated servers playing each other for multiple weeks in a row; it could not only alleviate map completion issues (See Veloka’s statement) but it would introduce some freshness into the matchup since playing on different sides in EBG does in fact make a difference in play style.
ex.
Week 1 : Green – Blackgate Blue – Sanctum of Rall Red – Isle of Janthir
Week 2 : Green – Isle of Janthir Blue – Blackgate Red – Sanctum of Rall
Week 3 : Green – Sanctum of Rall Blue – Isle of Janthir Red – Blackgate
If a server’s rank alternates or switches it puts the servers back where they should start in the current system to create a new rotation since playing a new server should be seen as fresh naturally.
ex.
Week 1 : Green – Blackgate Blue – Sanctum of Rall Red – Isle of Janthir
Week 2 : Green – Isle of Janthir Blue – Blackgate Red – Sanctum of Rall
Week 3 : Green – Jade Quarry Blue – Isle of Janthir REd – Sanctum of Rall
Week 4 : Green – Blackgate Blue – Isle of Janthir Red – Tarnished Coast
In this example; in Week 3-4 instead of the servers rotating colors for freshness the following happened to reset the matchup.
Isle of Janthir and Sanctum of Rall switched 5th and 6th place
Jade Quarry and Blackgate switched 3rd and 4th place.
In week 4; Blackgate didn’t perform to stay in 3rd promptly switching places back with Jade Quarry
As well Sanctum of Rall had an off week and fell to 7th place pushing Tarnished Coast into 6th; this in turn causes no rotation and Isle of Janthir stays in the same position.
