Hi everyone, I just want to expose you some ideas.
I noticed one thing about exploring: almost everybody (including sometimes myself) just don’t really pay attention to where they are going, they just keep staring at the minimap, waiting for that “point of interest” to illuminate and then move on, without even looking at what they discovered. In my opinion this is really a problem that should get fixed, because the art design in this game is really godkitten beautiful. Maybe you could hide every icon on the map and show them only when we explore it, so people will look more at the environment.
Also, I really don’t like the fact that there are so many waypoints in each map, I mean, no one really needs to memorize paths or buildings, ‘cause waypoints are everywhere. On one hand it is efficient, i know, but on the other hand it makes maps easily forgettable. I bet no one could even walk from the bottom of Lion’s Arch to the top without the minimap and all the waypoints!

That might be a personal issue. I imagine most people don’t share your problem.

For me, the efficiency of the map, mini map, and waypoints far outweigh the loss of recognizing the beauty in the game… especially since I have my graphics settings on Best Performance 24/7 for max fps. And, if I choose to spoil myself, I just set the graphics on max settings because my laptop stays consistantly over 30 fps in moderately populated areas.

I can assure you that I wouldn’t be posting here if it was my personal issue.

I truely didn’t mean to offend. When I first played through all of the maps on the game I set my graphics on high and it was very enjoyable.

I see what you are saying though (although I’ve never thought of it myself). It could be more enjoyable to new players if the map was completely fogged until you reach a certain point. It could add to the beauty that new players experience.
