So….. what’s the point of this feature except to screw over all of us who’s kids play on the same account? there’s always been a bank where we could put our money and deposit all our cash, so now my 10 yr old (who i couldn’t get his own account because it was tied to our gw1 account and all his toons & junk was on there and haaad to be tied to this account) is on here.

so mid stream you make these kind of sweeping changes with no way for us to transfer characters to another account if we wanted to. smh. whats next? account bound commanders? I’d love for him to have access to that as well. great job. <sarcasm>thanks</sarcasm>

gonna be a fun conversation tonight when i tell him he’s perma-banned from gw2.

great features added to gw2:

• removal of wp’s in dungeons (effectively making them worthless).
• global wallets (screwing over anyone who plays w/ their kids on the same account).
• waiting for global commander access cause nobody can save up more than 100g… its just impossible

1. Almost no one has 1 account for 2 players …
2. why is it different he could’ve just gone to the bank and take the money = same problem
3. Why would you be allowed to transfer characters to another account (then an illegal character transfer business would start)
4. Account bound commander is not a bad idea I think, it’s already 100 Gold
5. Farm Gold a bit and you have 100 + in a month or 2 …

I’m glad you’ve talked it over w/ the hundreds of thousands of people who play (sorry but i’ve met and talked w/ plenty who do). thanks for your input but it screwed me over and i think its a bad idea. (the last point was heavy sarcasm fyi i’m a commander and DONT want global account access of the tag thanks.)

Your problems are:

1. You’re sharing accounts. That is against the EULA that you agreed to.
2. Guild Wars 2 is rated for ages 12 and up, so your 10-year-old shouldn’t even be playing the game.

Nothing except your parental control is preventing him from just playing on whichever character has the Commander tag.

terrible concept. for a company who pretends to be community driven. you sure do implement a lot of changes without getting opinions of the community at large (or i guess maybe you do and its just your super secret alpha test group that you’re listening to… maybe you need to do a refresh on those folks).

So tell me. From your post, one could believe that you have a character on your account that has a Commander tag. Similarly, you lead people to believe that your 10-year-old is not messing with said Commander tag.

That, to me, looks like you have a pretty good grab on what your 10-year-old is allowed to do and what not. I was 10 once and let me tell you, if I was in that position, I would’ve gone on your character just to see all the things you had. I don’t consider myself having been raised by bad parents either.

So to me it seems a bit confusing that you can get your 10-year-old to keep his hands off your character, but you seem to believe that you can’t keep your 10-year-old from spending your currency. It’s not like there ever was some kind of in-game barrier preventing him from logging onto your character, so that can’t be it.

So what’s the problem? Don’t you trust your parenting? The same parenting that seems to have worked so far?

And by the way, everyone I have talked with has been very happy with the Wallet. On the forums, there are a few topics of people talking about how it messes up their personal system, but there are, from what I have seen, far more people who are extremely happy about the change to Badges of Honor, Fractal Relics and Dungeon Tokens being stored somewhere not in your bank.

i have a 10 yr old who’s way beyond his age (very responsible straight shooter type of kid). he’s been saving up for quite some time to buy his own commanders tag (good luck). he’s been playing gw1 since before he could read or write. not your typical 10 yr old but he’s not exactly commander material in wvw imo, and no he doesn’t play my character.

i haven’t logged in to see the wallet, and i’m one of these people (anet please listen to me) who actually spend money on a regular basis on this game. this is enough for me to stop playing though as i don’t want to micro-manage finances and am at a point where its kind of difficult to split out the way i play the game. there are other games to spend my money on (not talking to you guys commenting on this now), and I just wanted you to know this isn’t a good fit for everybody if you wanted feedback at face value. I will log in later on and make sure what i’m saying is valid though. this is just my bite reaction from what i’m reading.

You’re upset because now you can’t have multiple people playing on 1 account? I’m pretty sure Anet isn’t upset about this.

Actually, I’d be willing to bet the majority of players are in favor of the wallet.

Take this chance to teach him about budgeting and ownership of items.

Put a notebook next to the computer, tell him yo write down anytime he gets some bit of loot that goes into the wallet, and anytime he spends it and that he’s allowed to use only as much as he earns, unless you expresely allow him to, otherwise you get to take it all.

As for the money, well, make a 1 toon guild and deposit the money in the bank, tell him he’s not allowed to take any money from there unless he asks first, deposit all your money there on logout.

I agree that it’s unfortunate that this new feature inconveniences you and anyone else that shares their account with their kids (even if my son is still too young for that), but the game was designed from the ground up to be played by one person per account, more so than any other MMO I’ve played (since guilds and banks are per account and not per character), and this feature was one that had been requested over and over for a long time already, and to be honest, there’s no MMO that I know that allows character transfers, otherwise it would be like allowing to sell characters which is against the TOS in almost all online games. It’s just the fact of online games, we’re at a minority (I include myself because my son will soon be old enough to be in the same situation), and we just can’t expect for every feature, specially one requested by a huge majority, to be held against something that only affects to very few of us.

bought another account tonight. so an entire years worth of effort for my character gone gg (i’ve started a whole new one under a new account so the minor could continue to play his under this one and mine goes to waste :S ).

& btw… “sharing” accounts and having a minor whom you are 100% responsible for as a parent click on the launch icon on your computer (as he has no clue what the password is… if it fails to log in, he doesnt play… and therefore wouldn’t quite be considered “shared” anyway) are I think 2 different things. way to blow things a bit out of proportion there folks. had he been somewhere else, playing on another computer, and i given him my account, he used it to log in and we had to coordinate who was playing & when yea… i could see that as a problem. splitting hairs. problem solved. mods feel free to lock this thread.

I didn’t see a suggestion in the original post, but you asked what the point of this change was. The point was to remove the many tokens etc cluttering up banks and characters, something the community has asked for many times. They added gold to the mix so it was all currencies (since the tokens are a type of currency.)

I understand your frustration and no doubt there are people who agree that this is not good for those who have other reasons for keeping gold separate. For example some complained it would let them accidentally spend money they wanted to save if they clicked too quickly. But overall on these forums the response has been positive, so I don’t think it’s a case of the devs ignoring their community.

I don’t think you did yourself any favours by saying “children without children” btw. Enjoy your new account.

I’m not against people sharing their accounts, but it is prohibited bye the EULA, so I wouldn’t come complaining to the forums if I were doing it. Just saying.

It takes a little more than a day to make a new level 80 character and deck it out in exotics. What exactly have you done that took a year of play? Even making a legendary only takes about a month or 2.

Unfortunately the rules are the rules. They are not open for personal interpretation. If protecting your assets was a priority in the first place, and the kid had all his gw1 stuff linked with this account… YOU should have made a new account for yourself before you even started playing.
