I adore this game! I truly feel like the Anet team has done an exceptional job on all fronts PvE and PvP, and I was thrilled to see some of the other account wide changes that have taken place, and would like to suggest one more.

Karma points being account wide. Because of certain DR limitations, I don’t feel like it’s worth it to remain on my main for very long. As a result, I’ve begun leveling alts, which has been an absolute joy in itself, but I can’t help but succumb to that nagging feeling that I’m going to have to start the karma grind all over again on this new character, which will also encounter a DR wall, which means this fresh beautiful new toon is going to succumb to the same fate that sent me off to level an alt in the first place.

If karma points were available on an account wide base, like gold, dungeon tokens, and specialized armor skins, I feel like it would be a great way to encourage players to try all of the classes, as well as unclog some of the high level zone karma events. It would offer some great versatility to the game that would allow players to experiment with other classes while still working toward an end game goal.

Just a small thought and idea from a very devoted player. Great job thus far ArenaNet!

This thread leads me to the question of currencies in general. Are there any other currencies besides karma that aren’t account based? I’m intrigued by the idea of account based karma. After all I like to play alts as well and will play whatever alt benefits my guilds activity the most. I know in GW2 that sort of thing isn’t supposed to matter but I get the impression that even though there is no T/D/H reliance that there is still certain benefits to having specific group setups. Though not an absolute necessity. As a result it would be beneficial as one who takes what is neede to benefit from the rewards gotten on which ever character they would like. In most people case the one character they consider their favorite (or main) or the one they wanted to bring but something else was needed.

There definately could use help int his department considering that all other currency is account wide.

I’ve been yearning for this on my karma-starved alts. Oh the pain when I see a 300 karma item I can’t buy as an upgrade when I have thousands of karma elsewhere! Conversely, it costs far more karma than I’ve seen in one place to get even one big-ticket item; being able to collect it across all my alts and save it up would be great. And if I spend it all on that one thing, then it’s gone, so it’s not like I’m double-dipping.

At the least, maybe have something like Star of Transference (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Star_of_Transference) that you can make in mystic forge to move things like karma or skills points that you have spent lots of time on main and want to transfer some help onto your alt (even if not at 1:1 ratio like Star of Transference).

Do the same with skill points.
(if you don’t want alts to get SP early on, then pool them together when they reach 80)

let me trade or convert my Skill Points for Karma.

I agree that Karma points should be account wide, at launch dungeon tokens were soulbound and they have been changed to account wide. Now I understand changing or making a new type of item takes a little less work compared to the way karma is used in the game but I really think having account wide karma would be a good thing. From what I know, all currencies currently in the game are account wide with the exception of karma. Dungeon tokens, WvW tokens, Glory, Gold (any more currencies?) are all usable by each of your characters. It would only make sense to have the same thing done with karma.

Yes, totally agree with account wide Karma. If you want to get that Legendary Weapon, which requires something like 1 million Karma, I don’t see how any 1 character can achieve that without resorting to Karma botting or grinding events/dungeons for years on end, so big YES from me!

I do agree that karma should be account bound. Theres simply too much of a grind to farm enough karma on certain character to be able to buy exotic armor from orr for example. I am lvl 80 for a while now and I only have 130k karma. And you have to take into account that I havent touched crafting, dungeons or personal story yet, I’ve only been farming events over and over again to lvl up. Plus I ve only spent about 6k of karma in total.

Quick solution: add a bank tab to Deposit/Withdraw Karma?
