I’m not that much for leaderboards but I think that a leaderboard for achievement points would be awesome.
And the 1000 players with the highest amount of achievement points are visible there.

And the leaderboards should be visible somewhere on this website or in-game if that would work.

I mean the game is awesome without it but it could be a nice feature to see the players with most achievement points.

Feel free to say your option about this

Absolutely agree. Lets face it, the MMO community is big on competitiveness, they love seeing their names up in lights and why shouldn’t they? The players that aren’t interested in this won’t have to even look at it but I’d imagine those that are will strike a nice little rivalry with each other. Benefits for ArenaNet is that it will draw a good portion of players back to the game and keep them there.

Personally I’d like to see this and some other ‘pve’ leaderboards. As for me, I wouldn’t even rate in the top 500,000 let alone 1,000 so its not as though I’d benefit at all, I just like seeing the rivalry and seeing some of the numbers that people hit.

The only way this would work is if they removed the infinite achievements or added a sensible cap to them. Even the daily and monthly points would have to be taken back, otherwise new players would never be able to have a chance to catch up to those who have completed every daily since day one.

Achievement points would have to only be awarded to unique actions, otherwise a leaderboard can not work.

If you keep getting achievement points for random things everyday you’ll eventually reach the end when you only get achievement points for doing special events dailies and monthlies.

And if the list showed 10k players from both eu and na or each everyone would be able to come there eventually. Depends on what you’re doing when you’re playing the game.

And if 10k is to little then why not the 100k best on the list. The thing that matters is that players have fun and actually have something new to achieve after doing the completing the most achievements.

That’s pretty much all I’ve got to say for now.

Cheers

But then you have a hard cap at how many achi points you can get (no dailies, no salvaging, no hobby dungeon master), and all those 1000 players would have the same number of them.

I’m thinking long-term about this idea. Any new players 1-2 years from now would not be able to have a chance at being on the leader board if daily/monthly/infinite achievement points are not removed. The only way they would have a chance is if someone on the board stopped playing, which is not likely since the players with the most “fluff” points are dedicated to the game.

If a new player 1-2 years from now sinks a ton of time into the game and gets every unique achievement point, then yes, that player should be tied for #1 along with every other dedicated player. Otherwise, what is the point of the system? To exist solely for day one players?

This reminds me of Runescape and Zeizema.

Agreed! Except, players used their kitten to show off to me. I don’t want other players to show off their kitten to me in Guild Wars 2.

But… You can have time leaderboards.

For example:

Name of the leaderboard
Description

Daily Here you can see how many points were made in the last day. And maybe you can have a daily winner, or something like that.

Weekly Same as Daily leaderboard, but in a week.

Monthly Same as Daily leaderboard, but in a month.

Can you catch me? Here you can see the higher ranked accounts.

Well couldn’t this argument of “They’ll never catch up” be made with qualifying points in sPVP too? Or am I just stupid and there is a way very good players can catch up?

Exactly an idea I had if people thinks it would be to hard to enter the list.
A daily, weekly, monthly and historical leaderboard would solve that.
So the historical is the real one while the others are just a temporarly list.

Also if this got added it would be nice to see your rank somewhere on the character selection screen.

And I really hope someone from Anet could tell me thier option about this.
