Achievement's completion in chat
There would be lots of achievements being spammed in the chat box from this I would think… And not to mention that most of the game’s players don’t really care if you achieve something.
We are sworn together by our blood…
having achievements “spammed” in the chat wont hurt the game as it hasn’t in GW1 At contrary it will make players notice the achievements and try to get them too.
Achievements are completed once per account so there won’t be too many as you think. I am not taking in here about reset-able achievements like dailies or monthlies, but about the permanent ones for an account
In GW1, the more titles were obtained, the longer the “Favor of Gods” existed in the world. As in GW2 the gods are not present or something like that, they can add a new type of bonus to the world “The allied army has gain more strength against the corruption”

This kind of spam really serves no purpose other than drawing attention to yourself. If however you wanted it spammed if someone is the very first person to ever get that achievement in GW2, then I could live with that, but not every time someone achieves something.
It’ll be nice if you could activate achievements individually for friends, or for your guild.
You’ll activate it for whoever you care about.
But having that active by default would be a hassle, even if it was only within Say range, specially when there’s massive events.
I agree where spamming a chat box with achievements wont hurt anything, it does make it a bit harder to look for people for dungeons or runs when every 10 seconds or so 25 achievements get spammed.
I personally don’t care if someone gets the drake slaying achievement personally I also don’t think this will encourage people to go get it. Reason is because the people that care about the achievement are already on route to getting it. The people that do not care will never go out and try to actively gain it.
Now doing a 1st in world and a 1st on server would be cool but everything else not really sure I want to scroll 2 minutes through text just to see something I may have missed due to 50 people getting random achievements.
I guess if you really want people to know when you get it do
/m I just got Drake Slayer achievement
I don’t care if you achieved something…
I don’t care if you want to know what I achieved, it’s none of your business…
It does sound like a good idea, but only have it for non-holiday achievements and only for extreme achievements (like 100% world completion) so that there will be no major spamming of achievements. I actually like seeing the text of people achieving something, because then I get to see their name and they will sometime be a funny name.
I’d rather they just make titles visible under the character name when you are holding ctrl rather than having to click
AND PLZ when u achieve something try to click the achievement (if u have time)… and see what that does… It closes the achievement announce -.- this should be an hyperlink to the achievement u just earned -.- WTH Anet
Google “Grow uP” e Faz a Apply..!
Play Hard, Live Fast, Win Moar..!
Totally agree Knyx! How frustrating is it!
Otherwise, I think achievements should be a totally personal thing. You shouldn’t have to see anyone elses, nor expect anyone to see yours. Achievements are a nice little side-bonus to the game, they’re not the focus at all.
I remember in other MMO’s I played.. not gonna mention
The GZ spam in Guild chat when some1 achieved something… that was kinda awsome… even if it was like “Overall Gold Gain 1 Achieved”

Global achievements in GW1 were a nice touch. But only the really big deal achievements would be broadcasted, not the “congrats, you’ve picked one flower. Wow you’ve picked 10 flowers now!”
wouldnt mind seeing something like this for guild only chat. for global chat maybe just the big ones like been there done that and the wvw ones with titles.

That stuff got ridiculous. Someone would read their mail and proc an achievement and usher in tons of “grats” lines. And then there’s the people who run addons to automatically say something whenever an achievement is reported.
I, for one, am quite happy that others’ achievements aren’t spammed to me, though I totally am happy for people who are proud whenever they get one.
If you want to tell me about your achievement and you are on my friend’s list, I will be happy to hear about. Other than that, I don’t care.

And while your at it, use the achievements to unlock temples.

i know why you people don’t like titles because then you will feel forced to grind them like you are now grinding armors. GW1 was all about the titles and less about gear. It seems they have turned it into a gear grind then a title vanity.
A simple chat filter option “show game achievements” will be enough to solve your “spamming” concern.
For those who don’t know, the chat has already a spamm-able option called “combat” but its put off by default.
