Simple example:
Realm Avenger
I’m currently working towards rank 2, i.e. 383/1000 WvW player kills. I’m checking out that “Ultimate Dominator” title and wondering what it takes. Nowhere in the in-game achievement information does it tell me this. (For some of the other achievements there is a way to figure it out: the hover text when tracking the achievement, such as on Monthly Salvage Kit Usages.)

The wiki says it takes 250,000 total WvW player kills to get Ultimate Dominator.

That’s the info that I would like to have in-game, and without having to track and then hover over the text (which only work for some achievements) or turn to the wiki. Things such as earning titles or staying on pace for a monthly achievement require planning from the players, so having it displayed in an easy and consistent way would be an improvement.

tracking to view the % you are at then working out how much total is needed is a pain (i normally end up just asking in map chat; because im lazy) so +1

Desolation: 80 ranger [Nightwither], 80 necro [Dusk Grimsoul]
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]

Umm….if you check the achievement in question so it appears on the top right of your screen, and then mouse over it, it does actually display the total number needed to max it out. Or at least it does with daily and monthly achievements; those are the only ones I bother with.

Oh wait, it does it for Living Story too.

Not all achievements show the total required, sometimes it will only say the current and show a percentage. In these cases, it’s a bit awkward, but math will save the day (assuming you have more than 1%).
