(This is actually a copy and paste of something I posted an hour earlier on Reddit. The official forums are blocked where I work.)

As a player who is a bit completionist, I’d like to make a legendary one day. The problem is that I play an elementalist as a main and I don’t like rainbows. I like the Incinerator, but I use a staff 90% of the time, so I’d really like to have a legendary looking staff that I’d actually like to see being woven around.

After thinking for a bit I came to this idea (which was kind of already mentioned in a reply to a two weeks old post) and, because tastes differ so much, I’d like to know what people think about this particular one:

A legendary staff that would be pretty neutral by itself, but would change light and particle effects according to its wielder (and their attunement, if an elementalist):

Necromancer: Shadows and a locust swarm on the upper end.
Elementalist: Flames, sparks, frost and hovering rocks.
Guardian: Blue/golden halo(s).
Mesmer: Hovering pieces of a shattered purple/pink mirror.

Or at least make each of these looks a separate legendary (but keep the elementalist’s four-in-one as only one :P).

I definitely agree. When I get to level 80, I don’t really want my hugely dark and powerful necromancer to look like nyan cat. As for how the new staff would look, I was thinking more along the lines of how they have two different greatswords that represent day and night.

Unless this is applied to a different legendary staff in updates in the future, I can’t really see this getting off the ground. Mostly because of the historical aspect, the Nordic mythology associated with the Bifrost (a burning rainbow bridge between Midgard (Earth) and Asgard (realm of the Gods)). So in that particular sense, rainbows are inherent in the design of the staff thanks largely to it’s naming.

If another Legendary staff were to come along however, I’d be all for your suggestion.

And yet the Legendaries hardly have any value at all in terms of GW lore. I’m thinking anything goes.

Yeah, I don’t think he meant to replace the Bifrost with this idea, I think he meant it as a suggestion for future legendary staves.

I kind of like the Bifrost as a mesmer staff, and maybe for Ele, but there’s just no way to make it work for a Necro so I’d definitely like to see an expanded line of legendary stuff. (3 greatswords but only one of anything else, unless I’m missing one?)

Would rather see those as separate skins really, so I could pick the one I want and not be locked into one just because of my class. Of course that would mean like 5 legendary staves :P

Tie the effects into your personality traits too since those aren’t really used for anything.
