Let me begin by saying that I am a complete noob to the forums, so if I am posting this in the wrong place or fashion then I apologize ahead of time, but I think I have a pretty darn good idea. I emigrated to this game from an older mmo, which I had many problems with. (name excluded because I don’t want anyone to check it out) However, THE ONLY THING that they did right, was family buffs. They put a thing into the game that allowed players to purchase certificates (either of marriage or friendship or family) that would allow you to add others to your “family”, in game. The great part was that you only got buffs if you played together in a party with that person, so (just a rough example here b/c the numbers would need a lot of ironing out) if player 1 and player 2 were to purchase lets say a marriage certificate, and then they were to add each-other as husband and wife, whenever they are in a party doing events or killing mobs, they fill up another invisible xp bar, that serves as the xp for their relationship. At lvl 1 they get a menial buff, maybe like +5 toughness or something small, and periodically it scales and gets much tougher to lvl, requiring a lot more play together, but the buffs get better to.

This would be a GREAT addition to the game in my opinion, and more stuff can be done to accentuate the effects of the relationships. I don’t know if they could use this exact thing because another game already uses it, but in the game i referred to players could purchase rings or bracelets that were consumables but that would let the characters teleport to one another (which is another REALLY cool feature), and could make ANET some more money in the long run b/c it would be a highly demanded gem item. All in all, I would like to see this happen b/c it would make my playing time much more fun, cus all the time I spend playing I spend with 1 very close friend of mine, and this would reward great friendships like ours.

I like it, but it has to be between two people only. If you allow 5 people to family together you just created a dungeoun running clique and eventually they will have stat boosts in rediculous levels.

Oh ya, for sure. Sorry if I wasn’t clear enough. Ya I would only like to see relationships between 2 people

This would be a coool way to implement relationships.

You could expand on this and take it even farther though.. Having family trees and people pledging as sons, thus creating a heirarchy of sorts that passes up a % of earned xp to your father then hisfather etc...

Also items could be restricted to your family age rank IE father, grandfather etc.

No stat boosts. I want cosmetic stuff.

How about you get heart icons aura if you get closer to each other like Vassar and Relena.

Other stuff, Lover finisher. When both spouse do a finisher, you do a unique finisher that has to do with love.
