It really sucks laying down a portal and running a certain distance just to find out that your exit portal is out of range. My suggestion is to add some kind of indicator that tells you when you are out of range. I have 2 ideas how this can be done.

First idea: once the first portal is laid, a circle is drawn around the portal, where the diameter is the max range of the exit portal. A good visual example would be the aoe indicator on the warrior’s banners. With a recent patch, allies can see the aoe circle of the banner, whether being carried or when planted. A circle like that should be added to the first portal drop and should only be visible to the mesmer. Granted, when used underwater, this might not be possible.

Second idea: There are little red indicators under certain skills on the skillbar which tells a person that this skill will not function, usually due to the fact that you dont have a target selected. Example, mesmer focus 5 skill, Phantasmal Warden. When there is a little red indicator under it, it won’t cast. I suggest that after the first portal is dropped and you move out of range of it, the red indicator appears under your portal skill on the skillbar. that will allow you to petal backwards to get in range before your minute is up to drop the exit.

I’m surprised no one says this is a good or bad idea. I can’t be the only mesmer player who would like this.

Absolutely. There shouldn’t be that amount of guesstimation on any two-parter Skill.

I agree, I doubt this will happen considering the amount of hate towards portals though. It’s probably considered part of the skill required to play with portals to guess the distances. Like with every other skill… oh wait.
