The most challenging part in many jumping puzzles is the camera. For the love of god, please add a transparent view instead of the “zooming close enough to see your nostrils” every time the camera clips with terrain.

I know a transparent camera could be used to “cheat” and see inside structures, but I really cannot see that being a problem anywhere else than PvP and even there it would be a pretty rare nuisance.

2nd.

GW2 camera is fail camera. I’ve never played a game in my life with a more frustrating camera system:

  • Smoothing. Why. No one ever said, “You know what MMOs need? A less responsive camera.”
  • Auto-zoom. The camera not only zooms in when any remote object passes between the camera and the character, it zooms in simply while turning the camera. What does this do? It eliminates the player’s peripheries and spatial awareness. It’s disorienting and annoying, and muddles the experience of exploring caves and interiors.
  • No first-person view. Aside from the fact that I can’t take screenshots without my character in them, I find it astounding that something present in the previous installment in this series is entirely absent in the sequel. It’s the same engine: someone had to go in and consciously make the decision to say, “This is a feature that causes no problems and adds flexibility for players. Let’s remove it.”
