What I mean is that it takes 2-3 h to complete a map as big as lornar’s pass. IMO if completing a map would take like 10 h i would be so much happier. Imagine how time consuming getting 100% explored would be . Also why there are no vanquishes? Make every map like a dungeon that you can vanquish with a group of 5 and some good rewards .Also hard mode if possible. This solution doesnt require any mapmaking so it would be probably very fast to implement.

There are no vanquishes because mobs respawn and the zones aren´t instanced. Changing this would require a lot of work I think.

It’s structured differently, that’s why.

In GW, you could only have X amount of people in your party, and when you went into a map, that map would be created only for you.

However, in GW2, the maps are open-world, as in they populate everyone. The negatives to adding a hard-mode to the open-world would be splitting up the population moreso than it’s already have (WvW, Dungeons, SPvP, Servers ect), thus it becomes less an MMO, and more a Co-op game.

Not to mention:

a) all mobs would have to be retooled, have pathing added to groups and have their AI improved immensely.
b) they’d have to reprogram the game as to create personal instances for you and your party (which in turn increases things like server load).

However, vanquishing and hardmode in the form of Gambits (see Queen’s Jubilee Gauntlet) in dungeons. I could see that being a thing.

Also, an alternative to your taking longer to your suggestions:

  • turn the map icons off. This gets rid of all map icons aside from waypoints.
  • vanquishing in the form of vanquishing other things, such as species, or DE’s. Collect a book, go around completing events / killing one of each species, hand in completed book for reward.

All dungeons should be vanquishes, if I’m going to do a dungeon I want to get as much loot as possible and not run through half the map like most of the PuG groups do. That being said, I don’t mean require it (since I know some fights are just insanely more difficult than others and some groups are forced to skip) but have a substantial reward if you do kill everything… like 10x the gold pay out or 20-50 rare materials with 50-100 common as well.

Open world vanquishing/hard mode can’t (or won’t) be done for the non-instanced design of the game.

I really like your idea Kentaine. Allow people to do their skips, but make it worth less than what dungeons are currently worth, and make it so killing all mobs is worth two gold or so per dungeon.

Vanquishing would be cool, but don’t like the open world version. What I would like is a dungeon vanquish title/reward. Kill all enemies within the dungeon. That would lead to new dungeon experiences! Fun times.

It’s better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
