Hi, I apologize if there is a way to do that outside adding them to friend list.

But it would really help on creating a balanced group if we could see class/level of whoever sent us a whisper.
Even guildmates in guild tab doesnt have that option.

a “/who <insert name here>” command which then details the character name, level and guild would be nice i reckon.

Much more reasonable suggestion than gear inspection.
