Addons
I think it’s a pretty good idea, implementing new types of UI and other things to help out not only those “Hardcore Gamers” in Guild Wars 2 but also to give the game itself a bit more of customization.
Sorry but i don’t need or want addons.I’m perfectly fine without them.

With all due respect good Sir, I understand your point of view and that you don’t need them or want them, however you must look at other aspects besides that one. Sure you might not need them or want them, but think about the others.
While i’m not against the idea of Addons, guild wars 2 doesn’t really need them, the default UI just needs some additions & improvements.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA

Thank you for your reply.
Although you don’t need them there might be players that do. A good thing about AddOns is that if you don’t want them, you are able not to use them.
I hope you understand.

Actually I can’t find the quote exactly but I do remember seeing a quote from a Developer I believe it was CC Eva, on a thread about someone getting banned for macoring two things together ( like wave and a phrase for a set chat ).
As I said before I couldn’t find the post so I will paraphrase this
We do not allow add-ons for any reason no matter how simplistic it is or complex, any macors or add ons that would allow you to do two actions with one key stroke is forbidden. This strict no macros/ add-ons is in place to fight Bots, it is easier to just say no to all then make a list of what is allowed and what is not.
Now that is not verbatim, but that is the jist of it. Your not going to get add-ons for the game, because trying to say what is allowed and what isn’t is more trouble than it is worth. Now if I am incorrect in this Paraphrase I have no issue retracting the comment, if a moderator say’s I am in the wrong.
I say no to add-ons for various reasons. Firstly, as WoW demonstrated, some addons trivialize content and force developers to change it and/or adapt new developing philosophies. This means that a) developers spend extra time b) the content might end up too difficult for players without those addons. Secondly, addons make it harder for new players to get into the game.
