Alerting downed players help is coming
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
when ur getting revived it says on you screen “a noble sole is healing you”
True, but that’s when they are already there reviving you. The OP is talking about a way to let a downed player know that someone is coming their way to help but hasn’t gotten there yet.
oh ok then on your minimap the player within a certain range will show up as a green dot
that’s only in wvw
I have run over to rez someone many many times just to have them waypoint out before I can get to them. I think they go to map screen immediately after getting killed.
I agree, I love helping other players this way. I almost always try to see if there is a quick way to go help someone if I’m not in the throws of combat, especially when I’m doing Dailies, or just kicking rocks myself for fun. It makes me happy to help and then sometimes I find someone to run around with a bit and I agree, I can’t tell you how many times I was almost right there and they ported. Since reviving others is a BIG part of the community aspect of the game, it would be nice to have an “I’m on my way” signal. Cheers and Happy Gaming.
Can I extend this to ask for an entire array of voice commands? Like in Team Fortress 2, pressing certain buttons makes a small list of voice commands appear where you can choose one (like “Thanks”, “Help” or “To the left”), and that one appears in the chat. They also have an internal cooldown that gets longer and longer the more commands you use in succession, to prevent spamming. It would be nice to have something like that.

I used to wait and see if someone came by to help but ended up WP’ing out more times then not.
The issue/problem that I have is that I’ll bring up the map and intensely search for WP’s near a repair station. This might take a few minutes as ether (A) repair can’t be found everywhere and (B) places that might have repair might not show on the map.
So after searching for a close repair facility I click the WP and usually mindlessly click again and its then I notice that some nice person is attempting to revive me. (adding frustration to them)
When in defeated if there was an option to ‘go to nearest WP with repair’ it’d simplify the process.

I frequently head off toward a downed player only to have them wp before I even reach them. Some reasonably visible mechanism on both main and map screens showing them that someone is coming; and then that someone is actively healing them would be great.
On the other hand, we’ve now all been pretty much conditioned to a) ignore downed players since we know they won’t hang around and b) wp ourselves when we’re downed since there’s no telling how long help will be….

I do think it should be more clear that there is no penalty for “damaged” armor, only broken. No reason to go in for repairs until you’ve gone down a few times, and some players think they need to repair every time.
What I think would solve this issues is MAP TRANSPARENCY. I think this is needed so badly for multiple reasons – one is obviously the ability to run around with full map up. Second is when someone pulls up the map, they could actually see you and know help is coming. I’ll often run right over, and sometimes I need to kill the trash standing over their body first. I’ve learned to heal them for a second to give them a prompt, then cancel to kill the trash… but would be nice if they could just see me.
I agree. Something like this does need to be added.
I can’t count the amount of times I’ve run over to/towards someone’s corpse to have them disappear on me.
I’ve also had a few times where I got to them, then trash jumped me and I had to fight it and they port out and I’m left wondering what the heck/why I bothered.
Community, hmph.
I have had people waypoint off when I am right there. Sometimes even after I have begun reviving them. With those kinds of people you just gotta scratch your head in confusion, smile, and tell yourself that it’s their loss, since they’ll be paying a waypoint fee in addition to the armor repair.
MY SUGGESTION: In WvW the mini map shows blue dots for friendly players. How about being able to see other players on the map when you are dead, so you know if someone is heading your direction? And give us a MINI MAP when dead too! I can change my armor or dye it, or mess with my Inventory, or sell things on the trading post while dead. Why can’t I have a mini map?

I like the “tagging” idea quite a bit. Especially if players made good practice of using it. That way I’d know if I should wait for that guy running towards me… or WP cause he’s just going to run past
Also a zone map (like pressing u in GW1) would be a great addition.
Yes! I love this idea. Soooo many times I have busted my butt and nearly died in the process trying to run to help rez someone only to have them waypoint out when I’m 5 feet away (even despite telling them in chat several times to wait, I’m coming, either they didn’t see it or didn’t want to wait). Maybe have a prompt that shows up even on the map screen that asks if you want to accept the rez help and if you say yes it notifies the do-gooder rezzer, and if not they can save themselves some time getting to you.
