All weapons available for 2hand use.
I thought they should add a Long Sword that functions like that or even a crossbow would work for either 2h or just offhand.
Don’t know about daggers and such. Would be cool if they could add 2 weaponless skills like a kick, punch or defensive ability that would be automatically placed in when you have no off-hand.
Heck, they could even give you 5 abilities that you use without any weapons equip.
Meleeing with bare hands is purely limited to plate in my opinion.
There is no way anyone could seriously injure anything like ogres without a lifetime training in martial arts.
Bit i agree with Crossbows and Longsword ( but the current 1h sword needs to be shorter. I find it distatefully long)
Rangers alredy have a kick with sword, quite interesting looking. I actually like it. Unlike the most sword attacks, that make the sword look way to long.
The problem with this is, if you give a 1h weapon skills in the slot for off-hand/ two handed weapons, it detracts from players wanting/needing to have and offhand or two handed weapon. With an exception to the thief, the first 3 skill slots are MH and the last 2 OH, of all 5 2h. Thief is first 2 MH, last 2 OH, 3 special dual wield based on MH/OH. Adding abilities for the OH/2H weapon slot for a 1H weapon just kills that idea completely.

Yeah, I agree bare hands would be tricky to do. You could add in some martial arts move to the thief but scholars would have it rough. Perhaps it could be them just casting spells with their hands. Nonetheless, abilities that had no weapons would have to appear as if they was effective against a variety of foes.

Detracting from players wanting/needing an off-hand or two hand wouldn’t really be an issue. It’s more options and it’s hard to go wrong there (unless you’re the one that’s gonna have to program and balance it).
Speaking of Thief, they ALREADY had a special 3rd ability if they have no off-hand weapon. Just make the last two abilities something that is weaponless; grab, throw, punch, kick, etc.

The thiefs 3 with only 1 1H qeapon on is basically a comparably weaker version of what that ability becomes with a DH weapon. And considering the amount of time spent without a DH weapon combo lasts, until you complete the tutorial, or don’t know how to equip a weapon to offhand. Which is suffice it to say, for basically 0% of the actuall game do you have a reason to not wield DH on a thief.
Makes you wonder why they created one ability that wouldn’t be used past the tutorial. Nonetheless, I think weaponless off-hand abilities would be really cool.

I think this one waters down the weapon / item system. D3 took this to an extreme in allowing all characters to use all weapons. I like the specialization. It supports the crafting of more variety in items.

Yeah but having 1-2 weapons (such as the long sword or crossbow) being able to be used 1 or 2 handed doesn’t take away from the ability system, it adds to it.
They have 2h greatswords that are used as a long ranged weapon, bare-hand off-hand abilities are not a far jump.

I totally agree with Mojo, thats what am talking abaut.
I admit, some weapons are not really fit for it, but it could be implemented in most cases.
Or should be kept in mind when developing future weapons.
