Allow Necros to Dismiss Minions Please!

Yea i know, but i want an ability to dismiss my minions when i need to not having to switch out most of my skills on the right side of bar!
Thanks.
I personally don’t play with minions (AI sucks) but as Necros we only have the F1 button is use, make F4 a Minion Suicide Trigger, why not?!
Haven’t played a necro yet, but if a skill to sacrifice your minions to gain health or shield already isn’t one of his abilities, then it really needs to be.

Necromancers have no control over their minions. Once summoned they do exactly what they please. They attack what they feel like, go where they want (though they do tend to follow you around to some extent). It’s not a true pet class by any stretch of the imagination…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
F2 should do that.
Press F2, they die. Happy face.
Ok as a level 80 Necro, here is my low down.
Minion 1: Blood Fiend, good for low level stuff, yes, better than the other heals.. its a heal skill. Anyhow, after summoning you can recast to consume minion for health.
Minion 2: Bone Minion, recasting can explode both minions, one after each other.
Minion 3: Bone Fiend, ranged cripple attack. Recasting is supposed to immobilise but rarely does. Anyhow, that doesn’t kill it.
Minion 4: Shadow Fiend, recasting causes it to jump to a target and blind. Rather useless. Doesn’t kill it though
Minion 5: Blood Golem, tanky ugly guy (probably best elite). Second cast is a knockdown charge (useful) but it doesn’t kill him.
So for all the useful ones (bah the Blood Golem) you can recast to kill, for everything else swap out the skills… Just in the middle of your jumping puzzle, swap to something useful (Spectral walk, VERY useful. Blood is might is a good spell for not jumping puzzles) then if you really want to you can just swap back.
You might want a seperate way to kill minions but why? Non-Minion necros dont need it. Minion necros wont want it because its too easy to suicide all your minions. There is a perfectly feasible workaround, right there. No need for change.
As someone who’s played a Necromancer since GW1, I don’t see why we can’t have a skill that allows us to terminate our minions on command. Whether they do something or not, doesn’t matter, sometimes, it’s tough to accomplish something if your minion is around and you don’t want to have to switch your toolbar around just to get rid of them. Before the AI was updated recently, I found my Flesh Golem was a PitA about pulling things I didn’t want to attack… it would just off and attack anything within some range whether it wanted to attack me or not. Now it’s much better!!!! I’ve taken it into dungeons and completed pve map explore with him with much less issue.
However! He still doesn’t always follow as he’s supposed to (as with all the minions for that matter). Suppose you wanted to avoid some guys (or something you know you can’t kill by yourself like a champ) by jumping down a ramp, but suddenly, your minions go running around the ramp and pulling that baddie or baddies anyway and now you’re forced to fight them unless you’ve got some escape. Having the option to quickly kill them and jump without having to mess around with your toolbar would be an AWESOME option. When time is of the essence or you don’t want to risk pulling extra guys with stray minions, or you’re already in combat, but need to get rid of them, having the option to dismiss them in one keystroke would be ideal!
Thank you for posting this suggestion, I would love to see something like this implemented. And yes, F2 would be a great button for that!
I was just talking to a guildie last night about just this…if the minions have taken it into their heads…if they have them, and go off on their own to attack something you can’t map out either as you’re still considered ‘in combat’. o.O
A kill switch would be greatly appreciated. ^ ^

Why does it bother you so much to switch out your skills that you don’t even need?

There are many scenarios and examples I could give where this feature would be useful, but Kyllaa above explained it very nicely.
However, I will add my 2 cents. Swapping your skills just to get rid of your minions while say on a jumping puzzle or any situation where you would prefer to get rid of your minions, but for this scenario lets use a jumping puzzle as an example. You fall down, but don’t die and there’s a monster or 2 below that greets you. You are now locked in combat and cannot swap back to your skills that you are traited for IE: Minion Master., you cannot wp due to being locked in combat. What happens then?
If on the other hand you had a skill, say similar to ranger skill “hide pet” although that has its own annoyances where the pet re-appears as soon as you take any fall damage, you could simply use it to dismiss your minions. If then the above scenario occurs, you simply resummon your minions for the combat. Problem solved. Simple!

Agreed on all the points, it should be simple enough to implement code wise, so why not? I think an option to nuke minors and even pets for other classes is a perfectly reasonable request.
Go dev team go! Let’s see this in a patch soon, please.
Thanks!

Switch out your skills, and then switch back to your main skills, it will dismiss your demons and add a 20-50 second cooldown. Voila, problem solved. It’s now possible to dismiss your demon without having to sacrifice your skill.

An inbuilt solution trumps a player work-around every time.
The Angel of Deth made an excellent point about your minions locking you into combat because of the way they pathed.
I can understand not needing F2-F4 for minions when you aren’t in a minion build, but that just means:
a) Only have the options appear when a minion is out.
b) Allow some more Death Magic traits for this new button function.
