Currently we swim at a slight angle and not really DOWN. At first I had no real problem with this until I did a personal story quest in a sewer where you eventually have to swim down a couple of times through broken grates and it was very frustrating. Not to mention the camera’s bugs added more to that frustration. I suggest you just let us swim straight down instead. I think it’s a rather minor suggestion that shouldn’t conflict with other mechanics.

Today, you can bind a key to swim straight down. It doesn’t work from the surface, but it does work once you’re submerged.

There is no keybinding by default.

F11 – Control Options – Movement (first section) – second last option “Swim Down”

Or you can move your mouse “forward” and “backwards” for swimming up or down…
