For people that are in multiple guilds.
Let them be able to set up a chat tab for each of the guilds they are in, so that they can see and join the chat of either guild, regardless of which one they are representing.

The one they represent still gets all the points earned etc.

This will help people to join different purpose guilds and participate, instead of missing out, on anything.
Example being inside an RP guild, friends guild and an WvWvW guild.
Enjoy RPing with the guys, laugh with your friends, and when called upon hop into WvW.

You could, add a check box in chat tabs, for each guild the player has joined, so they can check the ones they want to see in the specific tab.
Or come up with something better.

When I heard about Guild Wars 2 and the ability to be in multiple guilds I actually thought that we would be able to chat in each of the guilds either they would be different colours or in your example different chat tabs.

I think it silly that Guild Wars 2 promotes guilds as a way to make friends and be a part of a bigger community – yet we have to represent in order to maintain these friendships.

I have friends in US guilds and I would love to be able to chat with them without representing. I have guild members in my guild in WvW guilds – yet they keep forgetting to represent back – after they represent the other guild – just so they can see guild chat and find out what events are happening in the other guild.

Please make the game more social and allow us to see the guild chats of all the guilds we are in, while choosing to represent and earn influence for the guild we represent.

I find the current way is penalising us for being in multiple guilds and for me not having the ability to see all the guild chat of all the guilds I choose to be in, makes it redundant to be in other guilds.

Yeah, the way it is right now, I feel rather disconnected from my guild members.
Be it my main guild, where members are currently representing a different guild.
Or be it my alt guilds where I can’t quickly join back into the chat of my main one.

This was one thing that made no sense to me after joining more than one guild because I have real life and friends from other games that aren’t all in the same guild. I was like cool I can socialize with them all and their guild members too. Until I noticed you only chat with the guild you represent for guild perks contributions. I’m not sure a new tab for each guild is needed though players could set up new tabs for each. But a channel for each guild would be the way to go. And let the players do what they will with those channels like we do now with the other channels. The channel names could be as simple as the guild tag. So if the tag for one of my guilds is “boo” then I would use /boo to change to the channel but also have a check option for “boo” in the list for showing chat from that channel in the tab list. That way you could have all of the guilds in a single tab or as many as you want tabs. And be able to change which one you are speaking to if you have more than one guild in a single tab.

Taking this concept even further guilds forming with guilds in alliances so that whole guilds can socialize with whole guilds in an alliance chat like GW1. Which would also mean the potential of being members to more than one alliance which then would need an ability to distinguish each alliance in the same way with a check box and slash command to change which one you are talking with. Both of these together would allow for a greater community of players who share common ground while at the same time retaining the individuality of each guild and giving each member the freedom to participate in as little or as much of the greater community they want.
