I believe it should be legal to pay another player “in-game” silver / gold for an “in-game” service.

NOTHING in real life. IN-GAME ONLY.

For example:
None of my friends are on. I’m on a map with a low population at the moment. I need some help with a remote SP. I offer someone on map 10 silver to help me out.

I assumed you could do this originally but you clearly CAN NOT.

I get posts deleted / infracted by a moderator for trying to hire people to do dungeons with me. I have asked the question in other forums without response. I have wrote an appeal to put the post back up to forums@arena.net. Based on this, it is illegal to pay another player for services – as the moderator said in the email.

Please allow this. If you can buy an item from a player you should be able to buy a service.

Thank you.

I have never tried nor seen this take place. So you do a Map chat in-game saying “WTB friends for X…” or are you looking to arrange the hook-up prior to playtime using the forum?

As an aside – given Arena’s business model there is an irreversible link between in-game and real-life money. Copper/Silver can be earned either way, but I’d surmise they will remain inseparable.

Both.

In-game chat:
lol yeah the way you put it. Friends may not be the right word though – the idea is that I am HIRING them for a service.
“WTB friends to help me get this pain SP for 10 silver”

On forums:
“WTB group of experienced people to run a dungeon with for a agreed amount of money and conditions ect..”

Well, GW1 had this and it didn’t hurt anyone. People were buying runs to LA, Droks, etc. plus mission runs and also dungeon runs. It was perfectly legal and in this way A-net has gained a lot of players wanting the HoM awards.
I miss those “LFR to LA, 2k” I was not a runner, but i took that service a 2 times and it felt really ok because it was skipping content which I wouldn’t do with other characters once again.
Even if GW2 storyline is different, in the end its the same story and there are no shortcuts through it so it gets boring really fast to level up more characters

My suggestion: Do not listen to the forum/community moderators when it comes to in game issues.

They’ve proven that they clearly do not know the rules to the game, and contradict posts made by developers themselves on issues like the Combat Mod or SAA injector.

If you honestly want a better chance of getting your questions answered concretely post on the GW2 sub-reddit.

@veritech
Thank you for the suggestion.
There are many great posts over there.
Now that I’ve seen that, no doubt I will be over there more often.

Why do you need to pay people? I usually do stuff myself, but if I do need help I usually just go “Can somebody help me with X?” and somebody usually replies or shows up and helps. I know I make it a point to help people who ask for it…

Maybe its your server.
It is not like that where I play. Even if I was on with you in your helpful world the suggestion remains.

The point is you should be able to pay “in-game” money for “in-game” services.
At the moment it is unclear if this is OK to do.
