I have 2 level 80 characters that i would like to swap names.

I submit a ticket to find a solution, but the GM told me there was no solution and directed me to these forums.

Is this a possibility?

p.s. buying 3 name change tickets to accomplish this seems very excessive.

There is no way, other then buying 3 name change tickets and sadly I do not think it will ever be possible.

At least if you’re keeping the names within the same account, there’s no possibility of loosing the name to someone else. I moved names between accounts twice, which requires you to delete the character (or rename it) and then exactly 24H later, grab it back on the other account.

Fortunately, all my names are (relatively) original. I don’t copy names. So, not only would someone have to pick the right 5s window to grab the name “Okuza”, but they’d have to also have to have a similarly original creation of it. Well, unless they read various forums — some of my names I’ve also posted under and have been “visible” on forums and in other games for a long while.

It would have been nice to have a way to move names between accounts securely, though.

Yes, yes it is. Name changes weren’t even possible at the start. “Player support” doesn’t mean “doing everything every player asks of them, ever.” If the game software doesn’t allow a particular data change, then there is no solution at this time and thus asking them to change the software becomes a suggestion, which rightfully should be posted here.
