What I suggest is that each character can bind independent keys for all weapon, utility, heal, elite, and profession skills. Also, allow separate keybinds for each weapon the character has access to. Basically, for every weapon and slot skill available on the character page, allow us to bind an independent key for it.

An alternate to this would be allowing us to move weapon and profession skills around, the same way we can move utility skills from slot-to-slot.

It is incredibly frustrating when you have 2 weapon sets that have very similar (if not identical) abilities, but are assigned to different slots. For example, mesmer phantasm summons are a mess. Some offhands have the phantasm assigned to the 4 slot, some to the 5 slot. The 2handers have it assigned to either the 3 slot or the 4 slot. Why not give us the ability to either move it to the slot of our choice, or bind a specific key to each phantasm skill for each weapon.

Currently, I use a complex set of autohotkey assignments just to reconcile the erratic control schemes. It would be nice if there was an in-game system in place to do this, instead of relying on 3rd party software to fix poor design choices.

Completely baffled by this. All I’m seeing is, please change the way the game works because I can’t seem to learn how my character works.
