Allow us to hide personal story quests
Playing the personal story affects how npc’s interact with you outside of the personal story line.
Oh does it? How does it affect it? Though that may be interesting I don’t see how this has anything to do with my suggestion.
I am in the order of whispers. Other npc’s in the order talk more about the game lore to me because i am a member of the order.
I wouldn’t mind if this was implemented, but it’s not something I would use. I like having the story line appear on the top right corner of my screen. It keeps me on track. I get to the required level to do the story line but participating in the nearby events. I don’t go past the green star where my quest will take place, that way I don’t get too ahead of the game. It’s a good way for me to track my progress, so I’m rather pleased with it.
Did you consider the fact that the new players will accidentally disable it and then they will be completely lost in the game?
I think we should be able to hide personal story quests from UI and minimap. I think most people spend a lot of time not doing these, and it just seems unusual to have to have it on your screen 100% of the time. Why is it like this? It seems literally the only way to have it go away is finish the entire storyline.
I totally agree with you, I don’t want to be constantly remembered about my personal storyline. It’s really annoying and as far as I’m concerned it’s useless. Give us the option to remove it, that shouldn’t be difficult to do.

New players can fail in an unmeasureable number of ways. Does that really mean we should leave out things that people expect(at least I expected it) from a game?
I like the idea. After having gone through the story once; and not really wanting to venture back to Orr on ANY of my alts; I’ve gotten to where I kinda stop on the personal story soon as I am in an order and can purchase my order armor.
So, it being there kinda clutters my screen a bit. I get to the point where I ignore that area; and then miss out on actual events I am interested in.
I agree. I frankly can’t stand the whole story garbage. Love the gameplay, but the bad voice acting (sorry but when this huge monstrous Charr comes out and sounds like Justin Bieber, it sortof throws the whole deal out, and I just can’t take anything serious coming out of his mouth.) That and bad movie stereotypes, and not being able to change who I joined up with. I joined the stupid Sigil on my main, and already hate every NPC I’ve met to the point I have no interest in ever doing another story quest. I just want to turn them off, entirely. Drop them if I could to be honest. I’m trying to enjoy a game, and when I was just doing hearts and events I was having a good time. This story garbage is just annoying.

If you don’t like it, it your own opinion, business, problem, trouble, etc. which implies there are more people who disagree with you then agree with you.

I would be happy if I could just minimize the personal quest notification to the green star. It would be there, it would still be noticeable and I could expand it when I wanted to.

This is what the OP should have suggested. There’s only one quest chain in the game and I highly doubt ANet will consider allowing you to remove it from your UI. I do a story quest maybe once a week but that star in the corner doesn’t bug me the slightest.
+1 for minimize
