though I find it rather disturbing that this still isn’t in a new game by default. And I don’t see any reason why they should disallow complete changes. It’s not as if you wouldn’t recognize your friends if they changed their height or even gender – the name still is the same..
guild wars is a highly visual game with legendary equipment which has no other benefit than looking cool – thus allowing to reskin characters like you do with your weapons would only make sense. I like my toons but there are a few things I’d like to change anyway..

Eve Online did it, works great.

WoW has the Barber Shop for hair style, hair color and one other appearance option for a small fee in game. They have a complete makeover available for $15.00. I would like to see this implemented in GW2 but with a lower cost for the complete makeover.

Yup, I’d like this too please. Love the idea of the azura but, when I made mine, I did not make his ears floppy enough. Still, he is only lvl 20, so I might just reroll vice waiting for this service to be released

I want to change his Bulkiness and Hight.
If there was such option in GW1, why isnt´t it here? Or at least some info if it is in their plans.
Already contacted support, but they replied it they weren´t the ones to contact, didn´t say who instead though….

I don’t care about changing sex or race, since I can see potential problems with that. I just want to change a few minor things I messed up in creation and would be willing to pay for it.

Right now the Gem store is full of junk. Other than transmutation stones, there isn’t much that is worth buying.

I actually got a reply from them saying that they are studying the possibility.
It comes down to how many people contact the support (choose GEM store option) to let them know there is serious interest.

Well they added the appearance change feature in GW1….eventually, I’m sure Arena Net will get around to it…eventually, you’ll just have to be patient.

I really hope this gets added soon…I made my Sylvari have long purple hair and really wish I would have chose a more neutral color. I want her armor black and red… and the purple just really doesn’t make it work =/

Like many others I didn’t really think it was a big deal until I put a lot of time into my character. Since, I have deleted my Norn about 5 times, because I can’t seem to get her just right…don’t want to wind up with a lot of time into a toon I wish I could change.

I hope this gets added soon as well… :/

Dont just hope mate, send the Gem Store Support notice of your desires! It´s soooo accessible.
I´m sure if they notice ppl want it bad enough they will rush it, and not just release it 1 year from now… after all, they want to make money

This idea seems so extraordinarily obvious to be implemented into a modern MMO such as this, that it shouldn’t need to be expressed.

“in time” — lol. By the time they have implemented it most people will have reached lvl 80 and left the game disgusted. It is such an easy necessary addition that would make Anet tons of money and make Gems actually worth something. Thus increasing the Gold-Gem exchange rate. (necessary to discourage gold sellers and make purchasing of Gems with cash worthwhile)

gw1 had this in ingame store, i bet its a high possibilitty it will come later ,99%chance it will cost gems

I completely support the idea that we should be able to alter and update the look of our characters.

I’m not in favor of a gem store option unless..you are buying the ability to change your characters rather than an actual one time change.

I would much rather see these types of things implemented as an activity for the game. SW:Galaxies Image Designer has been mentioned and it’s a good example I think. I’m not suggesting a character class based on this sort of thing, but perhaps a crafting option?

Could ANet create “premium crafts”?

Barbers to create items to change not just hair, but the physical appearances of characters.

Fashion Designers to create town clothes.

Groomer to alter the look (or even the skills!) of pets.

Carpenter to create furniture for player housing / Guild Halls ( )

Etc etc.

I don’t mind paying some extra money for new activities, new forms of entertainment and game play. It allows me to enjoy the game and community in new and interesting ways. If the activity doesn’t appeal to me, then I don’t have to pay for it though I can still benefit from it’s inclusion by paying for items crafted by those that HAVE paid for it.

What I don’t like is that certain activities and styles of gameplay are often considered, luxuries or “frivolous”. A player doesn’t NEED to be able to change the hair style of their characters, so we’ll charge them money for this “premium service”.

Town Clothes are a good example.

Questing, leveling, increasing stats, getting “better” equipment.. these are mainstream aspects of the game as it is “meant to be played”. Town clothes aren’t so they are premium items that you need to pay extra for.

I disagree, and strongly. Roleplaying and character customization should be supported as mainstream activities with thoughtful features and rich systems, rather than cash store only items and services.

Yes! I am honestly baffled as too why they don’t already have this feature in the game. I can’t imagine it would be that hard to implement and if they make cost gems (at reasonable price of course) it would be extra money for them.
I don’t want to have to start again just because I’m not happy with my characters appearance. With how much time you spend in MMO chances are most are going to want to change style at some point without losing progress.
I definitely don’t want them take as long as they did for guild wars one with this.

I would prefer to pay with gold rather than gems, Star trek Online (Cryptic/PWE) which is also cash shop orientated, has a tailor system implemented that allows changing of anything except race and name for in-game currency(equivalent of gold).

If they where a gem store option, i think i would want a larger selection of options available for customisation, than is currently available. As well as the option to save costumes(appearance settings) for later use (perhaps pay gems for additional slots instead of per change?) .

I too would like to see this feature implemented. It would be nice to able to change my characters’ appearance without having to reroll.
