Guild Wars 2

Currently all of the American Region servers are stuck at “Very High”
Which means if you wish to transfer you have to pay $35 or 1,800 Gems.

In Contrast, here is the European Situation:
12 “Medium” servers
Which means if you wish to transfer you have to pay $10 or 500 Gems to play on those medium servers.

Bargain comparison:
Europeans: 12 Cheaper alternative options
Americans: 0 Cheaper alternative options

Solution:
Add 9 More Servers for the Americans
In order to keep wvwvw balanced, you have to add servers in groups of 3.
Here is my break out for the 9 servers.
English: 4 (common in Americas)
Spanish: 3 (covers southern/western U.S./central & southern Americas)
French: 2 (Canada & Louisiana/ others)

Purposed names:
Ascalon
Kamadan
Fahranur
Eternal Grove
Rhea’s Crater
Sifhalla
Olafstead
Lions Arch
Hell’s Precipice

None of those 9 names mentioned above are being used by American or European Servers, they all are names from Guild Wars 1 and are common places.

If those 9 servers are added to the game for the American region I would suggest making the first week free to transfer.

You will have 7 days from the time of those 9 servers being released to move around freely with a restriction of 1 transfer per day. This means you are only allowed a max of 7 free transfers, this will allow you to find the server you want, the community you want and adapt to the new community.

This should accomplish a few things:
1) Give people who don’t wish to speak english a place to go
2) Lessen the population burden on a couple servers
3) Give people a cheaper alternative after a couple of weeks since the populations of all the american servers will be more spread out which will create a few “high” and “Medium” servers.
4) Change up the wvwvw scene since you will now have 3 more tiers with 9 more servers duking it out.

As for the other ideas, no thank you imo. Some servers like NSP even though they are very high, are very much empty.. Whereas a place like TC or Tarnished Coast has so many people in towns and talking in map chat. Adding servers only causes more emptiness. And all that moving, adding, etc isn’t as simple as it sounds and costs some serious money. I’d rather they spend it on content and making the current game/worlds/servers better. We don’t want to segregate people by language or playstyle etc. That isn’t a good business model.

no where in that screen shot is there a 1200 option or the possibility of a 1200.

as for the segregation complaint:
1) You aren’t forced on it
2) European region have no problems with this
3) There is a presidence already set with the European servers having German, French, Spanish, and Dutch.

God forbid we actually consider the fact that there are 2 other languages in the American region.

Just because your little picture does not show the 1200 card does not mean it does not exist…

Secondly, server caps were just raised recently and you could transfer free between medium ones. Now that people have nestled into the current servers they are very high again. I am strongly against adding more servers, and again there is a cost issue involved.

Lastly, guesting around serves the same purpose to find a good server. If people are having trouble on a server that feels dead they can guest and experience that server. If they want wvw info they can ask in chat or on forums. They can then make an informed decision on if they want to transfer. And not every EU server is medium, all servers US and EU can change at any time.

3) There is no cost issue involved at all besides the fact that the European players have cheaper servers they can chose to play on.

So going further off your example
Lets say in a perfect world every city and town offers those cards,
that’s still +$15 more to relocate then you would with a European server

Available on amazon and tons of other retailers.. Online and in store. Amazon, bestbuy, walmart, and some other retailers even have $25 cards.

I’m talking about company costs… Arenanet would need to pay for more capacity and more servers. And possibly other unknown costs involved. And our money is currently going towards content, fixes, updates, maybe expansions if we are lucky. I’d like to keep the cashflow in that direction.

Also might I add the obvious, most other countries money is worth more than the US. So in theory, if you pay their equivalent, you are paying more.

25 Euro is $34.46 USD.
25 pounds is $38.39 USD.

Just because a server says it is very high, does not mean a lot of players play WvW. Adding more servers will just dillute the WvW population more.

1) I shouldn’t have to pay shipping and handling for a card then wait for said card to arrive in the mail. I refuse to drive over to Tampa, Miami, Orlando, New Orleans, or Atlanta for a kitten card…. waste of gas and money to drive 3~14 hours for a kitten card.

But yes, there were, right around the same time when they increased cap, which knocked every server to medium or high etc.

Ok, guess I was wrong or to slow on seeing those servers at the time, still doesn’t make a difference in reality. Given the current date 5/11/2013 there are no cheaper servers to relocate too. Everything in the American Region is “Very High” or “Full”

If you disagree with adding more servers that’s cool and fine.

My main argument and point is that the European community has 12 cheaper options that they can chose to play on if they wish to leave their server. As the american region you are stuck with “Very High” and “full” and as such you are stuck paying an extremely high premium price.
