I suggest that in the event a player is defeated (not just downed), when the player is ressurrected they should not automatically get up again, but receive a prompt whether to accept the ressurrection, as found in most other MMOs. At the moment, if someone goes afk when out in the field and they die from some random mob (possibly a DE they did not anticipate in the area, or a player training mobs along by accident – or worse, on purpose), they can be ressurrected, die again, be ressurrected again etc. until all their gear is completely broken. On several occasions I saw the corpse of a player character completely naked, who fell victim to this situation, to the point where all their gear was broken.

A simple prompt where they have to actively accept a rezz from defeated state would have prevented such a situation.

I second this because there are people who STILL to this day bring the mobs that do heavy AOE’s over to the recently rezzed players in dungeons and in open worlds. It’s like no one pays any attention to their surroundings before dodging.

Real life happens. I can accept that my char might die while I rush to the kitchen or whatever, but it shouldn’t cause me to die repeatedly until everything is broken, because random players rezz you and run off.

Actually, an “Accept Ressurection” confirmation might be a useful tool to use against bots, I have seen bots dieing and ressurecting each other.

But then they’ll be able to go AFK in unsafe areas without any extra cost.

If you want to go AFK, you simply log out or go to stand in a safe spot. You can even use the HoM portal stone to travel there and stay safe there, and then go back anytime you want.

It takes like 2 seconds to log out…

I always log out when I’m going to be afk for more than a minute.

…it doesn’t have to be a complete redesign just an option. If I choose to turn it on and you don’t that’s a choice, just give us the option of having that. There are times to strategically get up. Even if they put a 10 second timer on the choice it would work well or turn it off in pvp wvw. pve needs it definitely cause we have crazy insane dodgers that just roll around all over the place not looking where they are bringing the mobs that just killed the players they just rezzed only to kill them again.

Easy double click your EotN inventory item problem solved no logout no dying it’s an instanced area only for you. when you comeback double click it again and it teleports you to the spot you were before.

Warning: only Gw1 HoM players have this item.

Simple fix: award the exp when the resurrection bar gets to full whether the recipient accepts it or not. This way people will still go out of their way to help up total strangers and they won’t unknowingly be a hindrance to those who afk’d. I agree with the OP: real life happens, and we don’t all get worked up about dying when something comes up. Ten deaths and a completely naked character is a bit more annoying, though.

If you want to go AFK, just go to the char selection screen. You can get there in an instant. What is the problem with that?
