I think it would be a good idea to implement some sort of /afk option so that if a person does /afk anyone who sends him a message would be notified said person is away from keyboard.

This is nothing big, just convenient for players.

One of those basic MMO features…did not test it yet myself but if this is indeed not ingame would be really nice if it would be implemented!

You can set your status to away in the social panel.

Social Panel? how do i access this?

Bring up the Contact List (Y), and there is a dropdown by your name.
