Animations
I agree. Player freedom should be the core of any MMO.
In addition though, I think they should also improve on their universal holstering animation.
Forget the ridiculousness of leaping 20ft, or skinny characters making the ground crack in all directions… LOL
Or sheaths, quivers, reload animation and extra data like that even.
If they’d find some way to improve on the current cut-corner, cross-handed holstering animation, I would personally be very happy.
It would also help players identify with their professions a little better. (Weapon/Profession specific holstering animation would do wonders.)
Pistols (Dual pistols) – should be holstered next to the hand that is going to shoot them. (Why do Engineers continue to shoot one pistol instead of both?)
Rifle, HG – Butt of the gun should be facing up instead of down.
GS, GH, Sword – OK, but alignment is a bit off.
LB, SB, Shield – how do they stick and how do they reach them?
Axe, Mace, Scepter – should be holstered on the right.
Dagger, Torch, WH, Focus – should be on the front left.
Staff, Spear, Trident – Why holster them at all?

Yeah I don’t think you know how much time animating such things takes, otherwise they would’ve done that already. Especially sheaths for everything and giving everything a physically correct way of carrying it takes a lot of time and resources, that’s why alot of RPGs and MMOs don’t have that.
Also this game is too young for such fancy visual additions, many things need to be done and fixed first, the insane amounts of clipping issues with charr armor for example or more general things. And I’d rather have them using their time and resources on those things.
