Simply remove the ability to mail gold directly to other accounts, and flag mailed items so that they can only be used, not sold or salvaged. Guilds require a little more work to prevent circumvention. Guild funds could be used as a payment option at vendors and the item flagging suggested above could work (and perhaps prevent guild banks being ripped off).

A botter could make thousands selling items on the auction house, but what good will all that gold do if they can’t offload it? A gold seller can’t sell you gold if they don’t have the means to pass the wealth to you. The only way you could do so is mailing lots of materials to craft items which you could sell, which seems a questionable transaction model.

Oh, yeah, sure, that’s a fabulous idea.

“Hey, bro, can you spot me a gold?”
“I’m out of space, can you hang onto this bow for me?”

The system already feels arbitrarily restricted as it is.

benifits nobody…..think about what you are saying before you spill it out, what happends when people have more than 1 account and wanna toss items over to another toon and then decide its garbage \ salvage?. there is always going to be bot’s and exploits, as history shows most of the bot’s as far as gold selling are usualy owned by the dev’s anyways, covering all angles of transactions. WoW is the king at it which is why they sued Glyder but have never once sued ANY gold selling site.

Are you sure that was history showing it and not something you made up?

Not that it doesn’t make perfect sense for ANet to steal people’s accounts and cause them to give up after days of waiting for customer support and demand refunds while spamming the chat logs in cities, causing the remaining players to become frustrated, all the while trying to draw people away from the in game gold-buying option.
