So, Me and a pair of mesmers in my guilds thought it would be nice to give some people in the EB jump puzzle some help by fully porting them to the top. Naturally we wanted to let everyone know about it so I was tasked to say in map every few minutes that the jump puzzle has porters.

Initially it went great, we had a steady flow of players jumping in and alot of thanks form the people. That was until I got this.

“Your message was suppressed due to excessive messaging”

My map chat ad for the puzzle was being blocked.

Now I’m not a jerk I was advertising every 4 minutes. but even after waiting 10 minutes I was still blocked from map chat.

sure enough shortly after this the incoming numbers began to dwindle. So we decided to pack it up. A fellow guildie did a last call(since i was still being blocked) and 15 people swarmed in.

I understand the usefulness of anti-spam but this level is ridiculous. What spammer spams every 5 minutes???

I can understand what caused it since I was using the same message every time (with the next time to portal changed) however I cant see a reason why this would be blocked. Please change the Anti-Spam so that very infrequent announcements can still be said.

+1

every 5 minutes isnt spam, its usually LFG

at the other hand, they should add some emote spam filter, very annoying…

If Anet wants to reduce 75% of map messages they should introduce a freaking LFG tool ingame !!!!

Can send 2 mails. 3rd one is blocked because of “excessive messaging”. Really?!

my husband and i do the same thing on jq for the la puzzles, on sundays. i’ve had to be very “creative” in how i phrase my offers in /m, as i struggled with the throttle the first day i did it. basically, i found out that if you vary your word placement, wording, etc, you can avoid the throttle — heck, i’ve even had my /s throttled for saying “you’re welcome” too many times when people are thanking me.

i do think there needs to be a better system — in addition, the fact that we don’t know how long we’re throttled is really annoying. sometimes a couple of minutes, sometimes 10 minutes or longer, and never after a “set” amount of throttles — like, there doesn’t appear to be a deal of “throttle once – 1 minute, twice – 2 minutes,” and so on.
