Could we have a feature to change our display name? I would really like this as I used to play a mesmer, but then fell in love with the guardian. “Chaosmesmer” doesnt really fit anymore and if possible, I would really like to change it into something else.

Yes this has to be the worst (although it’s not life altering or anything) system I’ve ever seen in an mmo.

I just put something in there because I don’t really care about a forum name, but had no idea this was going to be displayed constantly in game. They need to add a HUGE warning at least when you’re signing up to just download the client.

Now I’m apparently stuck with a random silly name for the duration! This should be addressed for your customers. Really, really a bad decision on someone’s part in my opinion. Not happy and I haven’t even started playing. :/

ANet staff definitely have the power to change account names; they changed mine a few days ago (presumably because the original name was considered offensive). So perhaps you could submit a support ticket and ask for a name change.

Alternatively, you could try to report yourself for having an offensive name. Assuming that this approach works, they’ll probably just replace “chaosmesmer” with something random (which may not be to your liking).

So is this coming or not..? Just a yes or no from anet would be nice.
Btw if theres a way to make them change it by reporting or anything that would be awsome..Im pretty sure my name is offencive in some language :P

I heard they use anagrams to give players new display names.

Makes me wonder what Advert Paperer was called before <.<
