This may have been asked before but I couldn’t find an answer through the search function.

We use Ventrilo and the Ctrl key is mapped for push to talk. Some people use the mouse to click their skills versus using the keyboard. (I know it isn’t the most efficient method.)

We could remap our talk key but after playing online games for decades, I would probably still press the Ctrl key.

I like the Ctrl key for highlighting mobs and interactible objects. I would just like to be able to disable announcing skills or change all of the linking functions (gear, waypoints, etc) to another key.

The current inability to remap this key is a big frustration with the game currently. Not only does it result in the flooding of /m, /p, /s, /g, etc with linked skills but it often will open up the text box to link the skill but leave the cursor in the text box and it ends up looking like this:

as I attempt to move forward or strafe right while my character stands still. I use Ctrl as the modifier for most of my utility skills and this happens all too often.

Wouldn’t it be easier to change your push to talk hotkey?

I know it’s my own fault for mapping it this way but I mapped left shift to dodge, which works out so perfectly for my fingers (also alt to jump) – but it sometimes gets me into trouble when it places skills into chat.

so i would definitely love to change the buttons used to link stuff.

lol i see i’m not the only one with this problem :P

Windu, potentially easier said than done assuming someone has been using the same ptt key for more than just this game, hitting specific keys becomes comfortable and second nature when you want to say something.

While breaking this habit and using a different key may not be that difficult in the long run, the point is it shouldnt be necessary.

Rebinding keys, yes.
Not rebinding your push to talk, no.

Change your setup. You will probably screw up for a while, but then you will get used to it and it will be second nature. Too many games make use of ctrl, it’s a terrible key to use.

[shift left] + [mouse button left] on skill = Post into chat
I do not find any option, to change this control setting. I want to use [Shift left] in a different way – for dodge.
If I would use Shift actually, I would spam skill posts into chat, when I play PvP/WvW à fast interactions.
Also at the moment I post a skill, I post my other interactions on the keyboard, like Movement “WASD” and so on, because of the open chat.
