For how much focus is put on aesthetic items, it is terrible to have the system setup the way ArenaNet does.

You can look at DC Universe Online to see how awesome an appearance tab can be. They list every slot, and when clicked, it slides open to reveal all the skins you can apply to that specific armour.

I am currently in a bit of a predicament where I have the Sclerite Karka Shell look transmuted onto the Fractals Back Piece. Now should I really be punished for changing my mind, and now wanting to make it ascended? I don’t think so.

I understand the desire for ArenaNet to maintain the Transmutation Crystals as a store item. I don’t blame them for that. What I propose, is to keep them, but alter their functionality.

They can be used as special salvage items. They salvage the aesthetic of the armour/weapon, and add it to the list in the appearance tab. This destroys the item, and you don’t receive any runes/sigils, or crafting mats. It can be character bound, and not account bound, like dyes.

This ensures that Transmutation Crystals/Stones are still used. This would also free up bank space which is limited by ArenaNet (denying themselves money for some odd reason).

The main point here is… I shouldn’t have to destroy an item that I worked for, or be forced to buy it again simply because my preference has changed.

Well, first of all you’re not really being punished since you still kept the stats of the original backpiece, the only punishment is the regret you’re feeling for changing your mind. Second, it was your decision to transmute it in the first place because you changed your mind to wanting the Sclerite look instead of the Fractal look. Now you want a different look again when you should’ve known that in the event of you regretting your decision the Sclerite was a one time only reward. Fortunately for you the Sclerite backpiece is account bound, although I’m not sure if it is for you anymore since you transmuted it, so you may want to check. I recommend keeping the stats of the Sclerite piece and just hiding it from your Hero Panel. If you want the Fractal look again go get it, but if you change your mind again remember the Sclerite piece can not come back. Lastly, I don’t agree with an appearance tab since the most stylish clothes would rule the market and eventually dwindle down the uglier gear.

You don’t understand. I’m not changing my mind about the look. I had the Sclerite look transmuted onto the Fractal backpiece. I didn’t want to make it ascended, but now I do. So if I put it in the forge ot make it ascended, I lose the look of the Sclerite.

The Sclerite back piece is soulbound now, and is no longer account bound.

Lastly, I don’t agree with an appearance tab since the most stylish clothes would rule the market and eventually dwindle down the uglier gear.

That doesn’t make any sense at all.
