Make it so any gathering from any node has a small chance to give out the mats equivalent to your level tier (Orichalcum ore or Omnomberries at level80).
And have it so the chance scales with how much you are downscaled, just like loot.

For balance, make it so finding a higher-level mat consumes more uses on your gathering tool.

We could call this the “Serendipity” mechanic – The chance to discovery scaled mats from unconventional sources.

A huge part of the community is fixated on Orr due to it being the only major area with orichalcum ore available. This would help solve the issue by giving lower-level zones more productivity appeal.

Well this would definitely allow players to be more spread out and not have to only go to high level areas for mats. Of course as it is now Orr is kinda a lonely place already, so I’m not sure.

I disagree.

It should scale with your crafting level.

Level 0 in chef? 0% chance of getting Ghost peppers in lower level areas.

Interestingly, I get a LOT of Orichalcum and Ancient Wood Logs by using basic salvage kits on any and all level 80 blues and whites I pick up in lower level areas.
My initial reaction too was that there should be some way of harvesting these materials in all areas, but with the salvage rates currently set the way they are, I’m not sure there’s a need for this.

That doesn’t bode well for people who just want to be gatherers.

You don’t need to have level300+ Armor/Weaponsmithing to gather Orichalcum ore or Omnomberries on Orr. And the same goes for gathering tools.

If you disagree with all that as well, then that’s entirely different topic, you should make your own thread about it.
