Guild Wars 2

Hello!

What I’m proposing is an idea that came in my mind while reading Chris Whiteside’s “Collaborative Development” post.
He confirmed ArenaNet’s will to listen to GW2 community and build this game together (Devs and players).

So, I often notice people complaining about weapons/armors skins, expecially the new ones. Personally I’d like, more than everything, to see more serious-toned skins, and for this I mean less glowing effect and less “decorations” (still love the restyle of TA weapons though!)

How about making a contest in which players send you their own armor/weapon Concept Arts? And you promising to actually add in the game the most worthy ones?

I’m sure there are many talented people out there who’d love to share their creativity with you! You ArenaNet guys would be able to prove that you care about interacting with your community, and players would be happy see some nice new skins designed by fellow players and realized by devs.

Of course I’m talking about something frequent, like a monthly contest! (the “everlasting” I put in the title maybe is a little too much… ).

Think about it! And if there is something very wrong about this idea, please, let me know.

A good idea!
Not so sure about to make a monthly contest, but definitetly it would be great to see some player-designed armor in game.
A simple contest with 3 category (light,medium,heavy) and a winner in each one (chosen by players or devs as well) is easier to manage, I think.

They had a few concept art events in guild wars where they made a few items from players drawings. It was good idea. I have a ton of 3d models I have made for weapons. Would be kind of cool to see them ingame if they were selected.

This is at least the fourth time in the past year I’ve seen this suggestion pop up. I really hope ANet takes advantage of the idea eventually.

The mech armpiece is awesome, as is the mask. The chest piece doesn’t seem to match the style of the other two quite yet, but can’t wait to see it when you’re finished.

They actually did this in GW1…
Let me grab the link… Some of the most beautiful and amazing weapons in GW1 were from those contests.

Oh, and 2 from the honorable mentions. Had that one too. Lucky drop on m 1st dungeon run, with a team grinding that dungeon hundreds of times to get it

That`s some really nice concept art. I`m can imagine stuff like that in my mind but I`m limited to drawing stick figures. You got some talent.

Well thanks but its not entirely all from me, the lion on the chest is like the forge in the first charr zone and the canon shoulder is inspired from one of the canons in game from somewhere. trying to make “siege” armor. Like if the Charr invented a mark 1 iron man suit.

I realize this thread is relatively old, but I just happened to find it again.

I dont even play charrs but that armor is awesome! Good job henge!

It would be so cool to have a chance to make new wepons and armor for this game, we all know it needs it.
