I was talking with a friend of mine who chose the Durmund Priory as his order, but then realized that he really liked the Order of Whispers gear. When the two of us got together, we could not find a way to make the gear availible to him for his main character.

What I suggest is that perhaps after “Forging the Pact” or perhaps even after Zhaitan’s defeat, we get the ability to join the other orders. I can see it being done in several ways… one way would be “oh hey, you just commanded troops of all three orders, granting you membership is the least we can do” or even a series of initiation missions added to the personal story where you can rise in rank through the other orders? Those are really the only ways I can think of gaining access to the gear for the other orders short of an old-school-style faction-farming bar (like the sunspears and lightbringer titles in GW1 were).

Just an idea, but what if the order armours were, instead, recipes? The current costs to buy the armour would apply to the recipe, and there could be a recipe for each piece of armour, for those who are only ever after one or two pieces from a set. How the order armours currently work would still apply, of course, such as when they can first be bought, but turning them into recipes would allow us to post them on the TP to make available to players of different orders.
