Ascended MF Gear Please Refund Items
Why would you get 1 for 1? You did use the items. You never will get refunded 100% for used items unless there’s some manufacturing defect or something like that, which isn’t the case here.

Lol no they’re just getting rid of them. Like..you don’t sell someone an item, let them use it for a month, and then come back and say “Sorry I’ve changed my mind, gonna have to take that back..”
At the very least we deserve to be refunded for the items we spent on them. Since they can’t really refund us on our gold or time put into getting them.

Doesn’t matter. You still used the item for X amount of time, so you shouldn’t get 100% refund. Otherwise, you should also have to refund everything you gained while using that gear too.
I used them for 4 days and then they announced they were removing MF.
So a lot of companies these days offer cooldown periods of upto 28 days. I would like a refund =-P.
So under your rule I might lose like 0.000000000000000000004% of a ecto. Thats fine I can live with that.
So long as when you get a Precursor drop and you have it for 10 mins then they do a rollback from 2 hours ago and dont give you it back you wont mind then.

You’re comparing this to a situation where someone like, turns in an old item or something. Which isn’t the case. Nobody is trying to return their armor back to Anet and get refunded. They’re taking it away. Since this is involuntary on our parts, and we effectively have no choice in the matter, the least they could do is refund us so we can hopefully buy stuff they won’t decide to remove from the game in two months.

I am hoping that there will be a way to acc. bind the MF% that my gear offers me right now, so it won’t go to waste. That’s all.
Let’s see what happens.

Yeah If they stat’ed it across to become an Account MF% I would have no complaints and will happily enjoy what they offer. if they just remove it I would like my laurels back at the bare minimum.

I’m pretty sure it states in the EULA that the game is provided as is, and they reserve the right to change things at any point without owing you anything, so the argument is moot.
I’m pretty sure they will offer an alternative, such as offering a free item swap at a NPC for gear with MF stats, or something along those lines.
Why the hell would anyone get Ascended MF gear in the first place?
Why the hell would anyone get Ascended MF gear in the first place?
Not everyone cares about high level fractals and CoF p1 speed runs, and the remainder of content (barring Arah p4) can be done with sub-par gear.
Magic find ascended are great because they give you more magic find than the (probably masterwork) item you’re replacing.
Yeah If they stat’ed it across to become an Account MF% I would have no complaints
How would that make any sense?…

I’m not sure what he meant, but I don’t think that is what he meant. :p
Maybe he was referring to transferring the MF one has from currently has from there equips to the account wide MF. (and they said there would be a cap on this, so stacking is not an issue)
example: If that had MF equips that they were wearing that totaled to 140% MF, the buffs you get from account MF would total to at least 140% with an overall cap of 300% or so. (maybe 400%, which could but attained in southsun)
Not sure how that would be accomplished, but yeah.

again, why would your gear convert into something a billion times better than what it is right now?
i normaly dont respond to these rage things but i have an suggestion to fix al of this whining,
an one time transmution ability, transmute the mf items everyone has to the stats they want, much like they want to have legendary items.
the base has been laid, now apply it to an one time transmute to the ascended items and al this whining is over.
MF will go into account stats and replaced by major stat healing for back pieces and condition damage on other gear. Fixes two problems at once.

I don’t know what precisely they do but as for me:
MF bonus from celestial will be removed
any other stats (Wayfarer, Traveler) based on MF will be revanped to something else – I don’t know what but that thing with healing power and condi damage could be good

Having the same magic find as one already has now on their present gear (that they are wearing) is a billion times better? It may be account bound, but that’s kind of irrelevant for people who only play 1-2 characters.
Why not wait until we actually know how they will change it before demanding stuff?

Really? So having hundreds of % of mf across all your characters because you used to own mf gear makes sense to you? I demand that zerker gear get removed and all my characters receive 5000+916 base power.

Why would you have 5000k power? What I’m saying is.
Only the max % of mf you can get on one character would be allowed. If the max you could get on one of your characters was 140% from ascended trinkets, then all characters would share the same 140%
Not that I’m suggesting that, because I don’t know how they would select which items to be converted into account bonuses, and which wont.

I’m not, A net is. There will be a cap on the new MF system, so no worries of people having tons of MF.

And one more big change? The Magic Find system, where players currently have to choose or switch between gear with stats or gear with magic find, will be getting overhauled completely. Only one or two item types will keep the MF stat, while the rest of it will go an account wide stat that you can sort of “level up” over time with achievements and rare found consumables (they’re kind of like karma jugs). They’ll put a cap on it of some sort, but you’ll be able to go well over 100% MF, just maybe not 1,000,000%. The food temporary buffs will still be in the game too, which will add even more MF to your dungeon runs. Overall the goal of this new system is to take away the need to choose between more power or more loot.
I think what the person who suggested this idea in this thread was thinking is maybe it would be possible for peeps with MF gear to transfer some of the magic find stats to the new system, that way they wont have to grind all over again to get their MF back to what it was previously.
As long as my armor and weapons get changed into something with different stats, I’m happy! I would be really sad to see my weapons with skins from Dragon Bash disapear, skins that I worked so hard to get (I opened like 6,000 boxes to get them!)

So make the mf mechanic completely pointless because 99.9% of the people would hit cap day 1.
We don’t know what the cap is/will be, so I wouldn’t know.
But if I were to guess out of the blue and say it was 400% (which is the number people were hitting during southsun)
No they would not, ideally there would be a limit to how much Magic find you could get back from your items.
I’m just saying, if they don’t want to be disruptive to people you currently have mf gear, it would be great if they could return some of that MF to them on the day MF is removed from gear.

Nobody knows exactly what ANet plans and how they plan to do it. Maybe not even ANet. Crying at this time is pointless. They have said they are going to do their best to avoid making people feel ripped off. Let them do their thing first, and then cry. (You know that however good a change it is, people will complain, right? It is a change that affects a lot of other things.) Afterwards though, when the dust settles, you will be able to have a character with both magic find AND great armor stats!
Suggestion to ANet: Let Armorsmiths and Weaponsmiths have another function: the ability to change gear with Magic Find into another viable type free of charge:
If a character is wearing gear with Magic Find, the Weaponsmith/Armorsmith will pop up a dialogue box saying “Oh, my! I see you have some gear with Magic Find that has been all used up. The Smithing Guild has authorized me to upgrade it free of charge!” At which point he gives the options for “No thanks, maybe later”, or “Great! What are my choices?”
If the player chooses to change some gear, a window will pop up with the offending item(s) and a prompt “What are you interested in changing?”. The player can either select an item, or back out. If he selects an item, the Smith says “Great! What upgrade would you like?” and the player will be presented with an alphabetical list of the various “legal” types (Apothecary’s, Berserker’s, Carrion, Clerics, etc.). The player can select one (“Are you sure?”) or back out. Make sure to include a description of what primary and secondary stats each named upgrade has.
Jewelry, Back Items, etc. would probably be covered by the Armorsmith, not the Weaponsmith. Whenever a character equips an item with Magic Find, all the relevant smiths should have an attention-getting big red exclamation mark over their head. The day they make the change, each character should receive an official e-mail informing them that the enchantment used to imbue equipment with Magic Find has been tainted by an evil Dragonspell; Dragons want all the magic for themselves. Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths around the world can help you upgrade your equipment. But never fear! The Dragons didn’t foresee that you can get a Magic Find bonus in such-and-such a way!…

Hamfast, I like your idea. I suggested something of the like in this forum, before finding the current thread.
My OPINION is that ArenaNET will try to avoid screwing over people with MF gear.
Changing MF to another stat seems to be the most efficient way to go about it, but I think it should be kept in mind that a lot of players might not be satisfied with that due to the fact that they already have other sets of equips with stats they would want other than their magic find set.
On the plus side they would be able to save any rare skins/transmuted gear they might have, but on the negative side, they would have a bag full of gear they’re not even interested in using anymore, and they will now have to grind(maybe) to get their magic find back up to what it used to be.
It would be nice if whenever they converted a soul bound MF item to another gear type, they also received one of those consumable items in the mail to help get their magic find back up, but there would probably have to be a limit to prevent people from abusing it. Maybe it’s possible for them to only count items that were soul bound at a certain date. (to prevent people from buying tons of mf items from the tp, equipping, and then converting)
