As the title says, sell ascended equipment in gemshop for people who doesn’t like endless treadmill. I understand you don’t want to make it fun to get it in wvw, so come on, sell it in gemshop.

As Scrambles said.
Except, not that extremely. The tiny stat changes don’t make or break the game. If you think they do, then you may wish to try and reconsider the build(s) you play with.

What would break the game though is a ten to twenty dollar price tag on an item that otherwise takes days and lots of in-game gold to obtain. You can already turn your money into game gold. What’s keeping you from investing as it is?

Except it wouldn’t really be pay to win because ascended weapons can be crafted or gotten out in the world via farming.

Out of curiosity…do you see selling ascended gear directly for gems as being preferable to making it unbound (until equipped), so that it could be sold on the trading post? Why or why not?

Id be fine with this option . It would probably be better actually since once its on the gem shop everyone and their mother will have one which wont necessarily be the case if it was allowed to be put on the trading post .

What’s the difference between buying the mats on TP and buying the weapon in gemstore? The only real answer is what we expect to pay. So really this is just asking for a cheaper cost to ascended weapons.

As Felbryn alluded to, make them sellable before binding. That way there’s no grinding for those who don’t like the treadmill while those who actually craft them are still getting rewarded for their effort in going through the treadmill. otherwise, this idea kills the crafting since you could likely purchase the TP weapons by smaller transactions of trading gold for gems.

All in for making them available on the trading post. Lets make those mats for them sell-able on the trading post too

Currently, all ascended gear has at least one major currency or ingredient in its acquisition that is account-bound (and not obtainable from anything that isn’t), so unless something changes there is no “back door” way to buy ascended gear. (For weapons you need bloodstone/dragonite/empyreal, for amulets you need laurels, for accessories laurels or guild commendations, for rings laurels or pristine fractal relics, for back items you need a vial of condensed mists essence or a sclerite karka shell). You could accelerate the process somewhat with gems, but you’d still need to do a significant amount of actually playing the game.

EDIT: Correction: You can make an ascended Triforge Pendant entirely from tradeable materials.

You could always buy legendaries, though—they have the same stats as ascended weapons.

I’m not saying that ascended gear should or shouldn’t be account bound on acquire, I’m just wondering why the request was to make them purchasable in the gem shop (which has no precedent) rather than unbound (which has one).

And since unbound equipment does have a precedent, I assume that ANet has already considered and rejected that option for ascended gear. Maybe they’ll change their minds, but I imagine it would take either a very compelling argument or a massive fan outcry.
