Ascended ring usage information
Each of them says “Unique”.
It’s a rare property, but it means exactly that: You cannot equip more than 1 of them.
There are tons of threads like this. Another one won’t “inform other players” more than previously.
There IS information ingame which tells you that you can only wear one. It’s called “unique”. It’s not like you’d but a greatsword and complain that it’s not a single handded sword, yet the information is displayed on the very same position.
To bypass further problems, do not equip dual-trinkets (accessories and rings) by double click. Equip them by drag and drop.
And furthermore, you are kinda lucky that you “realized” this with rings, not accessories. Rings can be INFUSED, which makes them (1.) account bound again and (2.) changes their name so you can dual wield an infused and a not infused version.
And yet, I had to buy a second amulet for my character since they implemented the stat constellations after I bought the first one. You had a chance by asking/ searching what “unique” means, I had no such chance.
Olba, Nretep,
Thanks for the info, the item being unique makes sense.
I still wish they warned before equipping, like they do with dyes, how hard would that be? It would make people more aware that you can only equip 1 at the time.
Also the fact that there are tons of threads like this as you stated, that kind of proves the uncleanness about the usage of ascended items, anyway I know now that unique should be read as: “You can only have 1 of this item equipped at one time.”
Thanks!

Hi Nretep,
I tried your tip on the ascended ring: “Rings can be INFUSED, which makes them (1.) account bound again and (2.) changes their name so you can dual wield an infused and a not infused version.”
Instead of the ring becoming account bound again when I applied the infusion it states that doing so makes it soul bound instead of account bound.
I then tried to infuse the ring from my other char having the infusion in the inventory of the other char, and the ring in a bank slot, the message then again stated that infusing the ring would make it soul bound. It turned out to be still soul bound to the other char after applying the infusion, so i am still left with a useless item
Also the dual equipping of the infused and not infused version does not work, the name does not change after the infusion as it does with exotic items, the name of the ring still states “Ring of Red Death” before and after the infusion.
Yes, the keyword Unique SHOULD appear in red as you wear the same name item already.
@Infusing/ Infusion/ Infused
You seem to not know what infusing means.
Infusion
This is the “new” upgrade component fitting in infusion slots. Beware that the slots are special and you can’t fit every infusion in every infusion slot

The process of making items “Infused”
Infused
Currently only backs and rings can be infused. For rings you need to mix one of them with 5 Vials-, 3 Globs- and 1 Shard of Mist essence in the mystic forge. Your ascended ring will be completely replaced (as anything in the mystic forge) with another ring. This ring will have almost the same name and almost the same stats, but is clean (not soulbound and empty slot).
A “Ring of Death” with Pow/Prec/CrtDmg will become a “Ring of Death (Infused)” with Pow/Prec/CrtDmg/Agny. The base stats are the same, it just received additional 5 Agony Resistance. But the two important things are (1.) that it’s clean again and (2.) that is has a different name, so the keyword “unique” doesn’t block it. Yet, it will block two infused versions, since they’ll have the same name again.
There’s a simple trick. You can use the offensive infusion ring and buy a defensive infusion ring. Then you have the attributes you want on both and you can equip both.
I would also advice you to do the fractals of the mist instead of buying the rings. The rings are the only ascended gear you can drop of the fractals of the mist yet. You’ll come much cheaper. Plus you can buy them once you reach level 10 by just doing 10 daily runs.
Nretep,
Thanks for that explanation, it certainly clears things up
GreenNekoHaunt,
I will certainly try doing the mists more often

Well yeah, buy the amulet from the laurel merchant.
Buy the accessories from the guild merchant (if you can’t then laurel merchant unfortunately)
Buy the back from fractals (much cheaper in time than farming T6 mats)
Buy and drop the rings from fractals themselves.
That’s how I do it and I must say it’s the best way to get to the things the cheapest possible. I’ve done several runs in fractals already pretty much to be honest but 1 run is about 30min to 2 hours 30 min. If you do a run everyday and on weekends 2 or 1 higher you swiftly get all your fractal relics.
Seems to be a lot if these. And to other posters, unique would not mean to me that yiu can only wear one. It’s an ascended amulet, of course it’s unique. That be like putting a ring that said " awesome" and yiur like yah, it’s awesome, yiu out it on and your character changes sex, then you’d have to say, oh I should’v e looked up awesome. Yiu shouldn’t have to google
