I am frustrated that ascended weapons cannot be acquired without crafting. I have no interest in crafting, but ascended weapons seem to do more damage and have more upgrade slots than exotic weapons. I would like to see alternative methods of receiving ascended weapons.

They’re not limited to crafting. You can get them from champs, JPs (?) and FotM as well.

Yep, got 2 weapons crates from fractals so it is easy to obtain.
Crafting is to costly, but yet again, you can choose the stats of desire. The random crates just gives steady stats, but weapon of choice.
