The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
What I would like to see is an option to auto-enable/disable town clothing upon entering a town.
The fact that I have to manually switch to town clothes every time I enter one makes it feel like a choir.
I like to mix the look of my characters up, so in allowing us to toggle auto-town clothes would be sweet. For those who have purchased multiple skins they may even appreciate a randomisation option.
It may not be high priority for many out there, but it’s still be a cool idea.
You can bind it to a key. I bound mine to C. Very easy to switch to it.
Yeah I suggested that a while ago too. I’d like to see that, although there should be a button to easily switch clothes when you’re in town.

You can bind a key to change into town clothes in the control options. I have mine set to Z, my weapon draw/sheathe to X, and my walk/run to C
So it feels like a musical ensemble of singers?
I`m assuming you meant “chore”.
Anyway, thanks for reminding me this game has town clothes, they`re so good I forgot they exist
Agreed. Binding it to a key is an option as well, but I’d much rather have it be automatic.
I was surprise we didn’t have such a function. since in GW1 we had such function to choose what to display in town areas without Manually going to the character sheet to change them all the time.
I saw several great suggestions for this:
1) Allow players to craft town clothes. Have everyday town clothes available through crafting. Allow costumes (clothes with toys) to be purchased from the Gem Store. When this happens, add more variety to the Gem Store.
2) Wearing Town Clothes in cities/safe zones gives a permanent speed boost (as long as the clothes are worn). Remove the Speed Boon NPCs when this is implemented.
3) Have ALL town clothes give a hotbar with clothes-specific actions. Bartender outfit allows the serving of drinks, rag to wipe the counter tops/tables, etc. Those that are just generic/everyday clothes give generic actions such as haggle, argue, laugh, etc.
4) Implement the ability to earn town clothes via personal story.
These are just a few of the ones that I and others came up with. I’m sure that the community could come up with many more, but the above would add to the richness of the game. I would love to see more variety. Best way to do that is allow players to create/craft many different types of clothing.
In GW1 costumes were actually useful because you could combat in them. Gone are the days of logical ANet.

While in no way a game breaker for me, I agree that this was a very surprising feature that was not implemented into the game, seeing as how the Cash Shop vanity items were such an important money-maker for ArenaNet in GW1. With them changing such a significant feature that seems to be making very little money (speculation at this point, but from what I’ve seen from the many quotes online regarding this issue, I don’t think many are even interested in costumes/town clothes AT ALL) I’m wondering if they will more-than-likely revamp the entire system to allow a Wardrobe feature (like LotRO or GW1) in addition to the town clothes? I just don’t forsee many people wearing town clothes with the current system seeing at how hideous many race-specific town clothes are. Not to mention the lack of variety available. Someone at ArenaNet definitely needs to take notice of this issue, in my opinion.

This absolutely. We should be able to craft town clothes.
