I was in an area the other day and was trying to finish a Heart quest but was having trouble due to bots stealing the kills. I was thinking about how some automatic botting check could be implemented that would kick off reported bots.

I thought of this: If someone reports you as a bot – a 5×5 grid pops up on the botters screen and they have to click on the 5 identical icons (these could be any item icon from in the game) If you solve the puzzle within say a minute then you stay in the game. If you do not, the account connection is terminated and then blocked for 1 hour from logging back in. If it happens more than 3 times in a day then block out the account until verified by your botting checking staff.

The flip side to this is that if a person reports botters too many times that are proven to be people then they should get an in game notice to this fact and that they could be blocked from playing for a while for doing so.

I know that this sort of thing is a serious issue to deal with in the game but having some sort of automated way of dealing with it might help your staff to deal with the accounts that are truly being used for botting.

I love the game and just want to see it continue to be open and available for all.

Thanks for all the tireless work in running such a massive project.

I support this idea. There are too many bots and AN really needs an automated way to squash them. Whatever they are doing now doesn’t seem to work very well.

Potential for abuse is too high.

Maybe the player is AFK. Someone comes along and reports them for botting, just to be “amusing.” Blocked and prevented from logging in.

Maybe the player is in combat — I know that many champion fights last a lot longer than a minute, and I definitely don’t want to stop fighting to solve some stupid CAPTCHA.

Not to mention that you could easily coordinate a few people to spam reports on one player, so that player is stuck solving these side things — interrupting whatever it is that they were doing.

Any time you give players a way to automatically block other players from playing, there’s guaranteed to be someone willing to abuse that just to mess with someone else.
