So this is how this works:
As we all know, there is this transmutation system which allows us to wear an armor we like with the stats of another armor. We use transmutation stones to do this. But when we get a better armor, we need to transmute it again which costs another stone.
My suggestion, avatar armors, are armors that overlay your current armor and does not need to be transmuted.

So how does this work?
There will be avatar stones which will be harder to get than transmutation stone. This converts an armor into an avatar armor. there will be a new tab in the equipment screen which will be called “avatar” where you equip avatar armors. these avatars will not expire. they will be hard to get but will make you look better.

Why do we need this? It’s basically the same as transmutation stones just reworded. Once you get exotic gear then you only have the find the armor you want then transmute it, therefore not needing to keep re-transmutating it.

Even if you’re the type of person that keeps changing their mind about what gear you want, transmutation stones are easy enough to get and if you need them instantly, you are able to buy them from the gem store. I don’t see how making certain armor types “harder to get” but change your appearance is going to be any better then the current system

RaiderZ has done the same thing and its brilliant,
you get “Costume Stones” to convert an armor skin you like into a “Costume Piece” you have a seperate costume tab that was for the look of your character, so as you’re levelling you can put your favourite looking armor in the costume tab to keep the look while having the stats of the mismatched/ugly armor you’re using.

it’s a brilliant QOL change, it saves you from either wearing good looking gear that you’ve far outlevelled or going through transmute stones like tony montana through cocaine!

What i mean by harder to get is the stones. They will be harder to get than transmutation stones but will be more useful. You won’t need to transmute over and over again to keep the armor you want.

You get transmutation stones so easily, that this makes no sense. Map completion on 1 char and you’ll have enough to level several alts keeping that look you want.
The only exception is when you hit lvl 80 and need the fine transmutation stones rather than the basic ones. But then when you are 80 you can finalize look and stats there and then, so if done right you only need 1 stone pr. armor piece.
