I have seen numerous interviews where GW2 employees explain that they want the game to be something where we can spend hours upon end in the game or log-in as we please/are able to and still share near-similar experiences. Obviously time in = things earned but for certain things I know that GW2 focused on minimizing this truth. For instance, there are always events going on in GW2 which allows people to log on and instantaneously be able to participate with others in an event. The same is true for WvW, PvP, and many other features in GW2. Sure certain things like legendary items require extensive time in the game but rightfully so. To return to my premise for this whole posting I think that the GW2 daily achievements should be based upon a different model than the current one. The Daily should not require players to log in every day. This goes against the very fundamentals the game was built upon. By forcing players to get online daily to earn their laurels they take away the opportunity from people who cannot log in every day to earn the same amount of laurels in a months time as people who are able to get on every day. This ruins the experience for people like myself who wish they could put the time in to earn their laurels when they are able to game (like the weekend for instance). But, in order to earn these currently I have to log in every single day. For many people this is not only not possible, it is not plausible, I myself am an active duty military member, a full time college student, and a man with a family. I cannot devote that much time to my games during the week. Even so, I love GW2 and I put many hours into the game. So whats the solution? If it were up to me I would use a different model for daily’s almost altogether. Here’s how I would do it. First if we used April which has 30 days in it as the example, I would take the current requirement of 5 daily achievements for one laurel and multiply that by the number of days in the month. So for April this comes out to 30 days x 5 achievements per day = 150 achievements total. So in order to earn all 30 laurels I have to do 150 daily achievements for the month of April. This is true in the current system. So how would I change it? Rather than force a daily log-on process to earn the 30 laurels I think it should just give you 1 laurel per 5 daily achievements completed. This way if a person who gets less time in per week wants to earn all their laurels they can, they just have to put in the equal amount of work that someone who spread it out during the week did in a more condensed fashion. This creates greater balance for all players in the game and further promotes accessibility to the Daily achievement model. So where does the monthly come in? To be honest I am surprised at how easy it is to earn monthly achievements currently. Rather than use the current system I would require each player to do all the daily achievements for the month in order to earn the monthly achievement. This makes more sense anyways if you think about it, how can you log-in 4 times in a month and get a monthly when you hardly did the daily achievements? Finally, I would keep the monthly achievements at 10. So if we used April as an example, you would earn 1 laurel per 5 daily achievements completed and you would earn 10 laurels for your monthly achievement. The amount of daily achievements is based upon how many days there are in that particular month and in order to earn the monthly achievement you must earn all the daily achievements necessary for full completion for that particular month. This would allow for a minimum of 38 laurels per month to a maximum of 41 laurels per month. What do you guys think about this idea?

GW2 is supposed to be about options and flexibility to play your own way. This principle should apply to the daily and monthly achievements which are a core part of GW2 currently.
