Banners Pick up Limited to Party only
I like the idea, in certain situations.
Problem: You are always going to run into stupid players who like to mess around. No avoiding that.
Problem: You are in a large scale event and you aren’t in a party. You have to carry all the banners yourself. This is a constant source of frustration as it is with banner specced warriors. Whenever I carry a banner for them 95% of the time I get a whisper thanking me for helping them out.
In dungeons everyone is in your party, so it doesn’t matter either way.
In WvW, enemies cannot pick them up already, so no problem there.
I’d like if they put the “pick up banner” F key function to a lower priority than even NPC interaction, but this would then just frustrate the warrior that wants to pick them up in large, populated or dense events.
War’s really should have a skill or secondary skill on the banner to “summon it to your hand” or something like that, within a certain range.
I totally agree with the “summon banner to hand” skill.
In WvW no one touches banners on purpose unless you already are carrying one…and yes I get whispers of thanks for keeping speed up on those near me when I carry my banner around.
PvE…I see new players picking them up all the time but vets tend to leave them alone.
its not about being a vet….I have picked them up by accident without knowing because looting and picking up the banner are tied to the same button, not to mention rezzing too. And if you are like me, you are not looking at the skill bar, but tapping out the number you want to play.
Zerg fighting a dragon or knocking down a door you can not see your toon or loot or what is near the person you are trying to get up for that matter. Its only after the smoke clears and the sea of people run to the chest that you notice that you have a banner in your hands.
I wished I had more choices for buttons that I could assign each of these tasks to, so stuff like picking up a banner is not what happens when I go to get a loot or a rez.
I’ve had players pick them up and run laughing… taking them completly way from the battle field. I’ve experienced multiple occasions where this occured. I understand players picking them up by accident, but it seems that some players run away with them intentionally. I prefer to have greater control over my own skills.
The weapon switch button will insta drop a banner if you didn’t mean to pick it up. I try to be as helpful as possible when a banner is dropped, but yes, you have to teach the newer players. I tend to always use /say and people do learn.
